Kulturquartier Mecklenburg-Strelitz — Attraction in Neustrelitz

This is really a hidden gem in the beautiful city of Neustrelitz, which in itself is hardly discovered. The Museum protraits the history of Mecklenburg from 1600 until the German re-unification. The artefacts, paintings and information (German and English) is displayed beautifully, with a clear chronologic order throughout. We spent about an hour in this part of the building. Next to the actual museum is a space for a temporary exhibition. The central area of the building houses the cafe, that serves coffee, tea, cake and sandwiches. The cake (kuchen) are made in a small cafe nearby and are delicious. The council has reduced entrance fees for tourists to e 1,50, which is an absolute bargain. Staff is very friendly. Paid parking curbside is right out front, while free parking is only a couple of minutes away. Absolutely recommended if you’re in the area, and even a detour from your itinerary will...

Mein Kommentar bezieht sich auf die Bibliothek. Schöne Räume, bequeme Arbeitplätze, es gibt wifi und das für umsonst, eine breite Auswahl an Büchern, was braucht man mehr?.. vielleicht etwas Ruhe und leise sein, gegenseitige Achtung, wie es normal in jeder anderen Bibliothek wäre? Leider nicht in Neustrelitz! Fehlanzeige! Menschen verhalten sich wie auf einem Marktplatz oder Bahnhof, oder schlimmer, selbst am Bahnhof ruft man sich nicht gegenseitig so laut zu wie hier! von einem Ende der Bibliothek zum anderen Ende wird zugerufen und geschrien. Ok. ich habe wohl das Konzept von dieser Bibliothek missverstanden. Laut wie am Bahnhof soll man sein. Aber Musik abspielen darf ich doch nicht. Aber dass jemand lautstark telefoniert, das wird einem nicht verhindert. Tja, etwas undurchschaubar. Also Bibliothek ohne funktionierenden Lesesaal und ohne ruhigen Arbeitsplatz. Waren am Karsamstag dort. Schade, dass das Museum samstags erst um 14 Uhr öffnet. Aber dann erwarte ich auch, dass die Dauerausstellung geöffnet ist. Wir mussten erst jemandem Bescheid sagen, damit das Licht in der Dauerausstellung angeschaltet wird. Die Ausstellung an sich ist sehr schön gestaltet. Modern, informativ, multimedial… Das hat uns gut gefallen. Allerdings ist der verschachtelte Weg zur Dauerausstellung mitten durch‘s Café auch recht abenteuerlich und wenig einladend.
