The Sonnenstein Castle is a castle in Pirna, near Dresden, Germany. It housed a mental hospital, which operated from 1811 to the end of World War II in 1945. During the War, it functioned as an extermination centre for the Nazi Aktion T4 program. It was shut down following the war, and reopened in 1970.

Wirklich sehr schönes Schloss, hoch über Pirna gelegen. Man kann sehr gut zu Fuß, vom Zentrum hochlaufen. Auch mit Kinderwagen möglich. Man muss dann den Rundweg, nach oben nehmen. Ein toller Blick, über Pirna! Tolles Fotomotiv! Zum Verweilen lädt der Biergarten ein, hier kann man auch Kleinigkeiten essen! Vorab informieren, ob das Schloss geöffnet ist! Am WE zum Beispiel nicht! Kann ich nicht nachvollziehen! Ein großer Teil der Gebäude wird von der Stadtverwaltung genutzt! Das finde ich gut, denn so kann historische Geschichte erhalten bleiben. Ob der Anbau nun schön ist, darüber lässt sich natürlich streiten. Fazit: Schon wegen der schönen Anlage, ähnlich einem Park, ist ein Besuch lohnenswert!

Piękny zamek, a właściwie kompleks wielu budynków. Ciekawa architektura i duża dostępność. Z tarasów i kawiarni, widok na Pirne i w dali Drezno. Informacje turystyczne wstrzemięźliwe, ale nas ciekawość zaprowadziła do parku. Szereg budynków, resztki murowanego ogrodzenia i teraz to zakład opiekuńczy. Wcześniej, szpital wojskowy, a przed uznany szpital psychiatryczny. Przy murze monument, świeczki i mało informacji. Przed 2 Wojną władze uznały za zbędne, osoby chore i bez rodzin i zrobiono "porządek". Przygotowano komory gazowe i krematoria i w tym obiekcie zgładzono podobnież 15 tyś. Osób. Dane znajdują się w Internecie. Ta część zamku, to ponure i smutne miejsce.

In diesem Schloss befindet sich das LANDRATSAMT. Leider wurden dafür (?) bauliche Veränderungen vorgenommen, die dem Schloss sehr zum Nachteil ( architektonisch) geraten! Häßliche Zwischenbebauung!! (Man kann kaum Fotos machen!) Eine Bewirtung, mit Blick auf die Stadt gibt es. Wir nahmen dort nichts von ein, deshalb kein Urteil darüber möglich! Es gibt wohl auch eine Ausstellung, die wir aber nicht besuchten. Steiler Aufstieg (Treppen)oder Zick -Zack. Vom Wasser ( Elbe) aus schön anzusehen, dieses Schloss.
