StadtMuseum Pirna — Attraction in Pirna

The city museum is located in the former Dominican convent. And this is interesting. The museum staff is also very helpful.

The museum organises temporary exhibitions and keeps numerous church equipment made of stone from a few local churches.

There is no permanent exhibition on Pirna.

I felt lack of information about the building, it's history, as it used to be a Dominican convent in the Middle Ages.

There is an adjusent church, a former Dominican church with medieval wall paintings dated to the 14 th century.

I was said that parish members act as volunteers and open the church from 2 till 4 pm every weekday. I was sitting on a bench for two hours, people were coming to visit the church , but no one came to open the church with medieval wall paintings.

The courtyard (a former convent garden? ) is very nice and quiet to rest.

No cafe in the museum, yet there are many cafes in...

One star for accessibility, both in terms of language (German only) and for anyone needing an elevator. There’s an elevator for staff only; to access galleries, guests must walk up a windy narrow staircase therefore museum is inaccessible to anyone temporarily or permanently unable to use stairs (I was accompanied by someone elderly with a visibly injured leg and the staff sent us off the elevator and to the stairs). One of the staff also appeared to overcharge us for tickets until another staff member corrected him. I do not recommend this...

Schade, dass es keine negativen Sterne gibt. Der Ticketpreis stimmt nicht mit dem im Internet überein und hängt an der Tür (kompatibles Ticket 9 €, in Wirklichkeit 12 €). Man kann nicht das ganze Museum sehen, man muss fast 2 Stunden warten, um einen Raum zu sehen. Die Kasse stammt aus der DDR-Zeit, Zahlung mit Karte ist nicht möglich. Dies ist das erste Mal seit 9 Jahren, dass ich eine kostenpflichtige Kasse gesehen habeIch empfehle nicht, im Museum eine Toilette zu benutzen, es gibt keine interessanten Exponate, sie sollten für den Besuch extra bezahlen Schade, dass sie nicht auf negative...
