Jedna z najokazalszych bram miejskich w Bawarii. Pilnowała i broniła północnego szlaku wiodącego do Weissenburga. Wieżę bramną wzniesiono w XIV wieku. Rozbudowano ją znacznie około 1510 roku, dodając przedbramie z dwiema wieżyczkami pod renesansowymi hełmami. Ponad stulecie później, w roku 1662 dobudowano ostatnie piętro i umieszczono na wieży bramnej barokowy już hełm. Dzisiaj w pomieszczeniach bramnych mieszczą się zbiory biblioteczne.

Prachtvolle Ausstattungsdetails gepaart mit kluger Verteidigungsstrategie lassen staunen über das wehrhafte Bauwerk. Hier wurden Macht und Reichtum signalisiert, genauso wie der absolute Wille, es ungebetenen Eindringlingen so schwer wie möglich zu machen. Ein toller Auftakt für einen Rundgang in der Altstadt.

Wie wunderschön dieses Tor schon Weitem aussieht. Ein echter Hinkucker. Man kann dort herrlich spazieren, entlang der Stadtmauer durch einen kleinen Park mit Kirschbäumen. Überall Bänke und sehr auber. Immer mit Blick auf das Ellinger Tor. Das imposant da seht, als Eingang zur Stadt über eine Brücke. Es macht Spaß hier drüber zu laufen und ergibt tolle Fotos.

The owner seemed pleasantly nice at first. The shop is a mess, it’s disorganized, filthy but there is pleat of stock. Trying to rip us off so blatantly was beyond belief, though. Look...

Dank sei dem Exstadtbaumeister und dem Kreativgestaltungsbeirat, so stehen dem Besucher der ehemals Freien Reichsstadt aus Richtung "Nürnberg" kommend diesem Baudenkmal gegenüber wundersamwunderbare Flachdachlegokästen. Endlich, ja wirklich endlich, ist die Neuzeit auch hier an prominenthistorischer Stelle angekommen. Nachfolgende Generationen werden sich beim Gang über den Südfriedhof intensiv bedanken. Ein dreifach Hoch dieser landschaftstypischen und genauso fränkischen Heimatpflege. Es lohnt sich halt doch noch Gast und Bürger dieser liebreizenden...
