Worms City Museum — Attraction in Worms

A small museum charting the history of Worms from 1020 through to present day. There are two floors of exhibition - the ground floor deals with the Worms from the Neolithic time to just before Roman times. The first floor deals with the Roman times onwards. The exhibitions are all in German, but this is easily overcome with Google Translate - be aware that translation is literal so you get the full force of the language which is interesting. The price for a family is good at 7 Euros which is good value as you can expect to be here for a couple of hours. Überraschend gut! Die Sonderausstellung "Mythos Worms" kommt überraschend kreativ daher, der Audioguide via Handy hat prima funktioniert und die Stadtgeschichte - auch mit Bezug auf die Nibelungensage - wird sehr anschaulich, neu und künstlerisch präsentiert. Die ständige Ausstellung zeigt zugegeben nichts was man noch nicht gesehen hat, aber ist sehr ansprechend und hat einen erheblichen Umfang mit sehr schönen Stücken. Ausgestellt werden Fundstücke von der Jungsteinzeit bis zum Mittelalter. Sehr informativ ohne zu textlastig zu sein. Auch ein sehr gut animierter Film zeigt einen umfangreichen Überblick zur Stadtgeschichte. Der verglaste Kreuzgang wird ebenfalls zur Ausstellungsfläche. Wir hatten 2 Stunden für das Museum veranschlagt. Das war für uns leider zu kurz, um allem die gebührende Aufmerksamkeit zu geben. An vielem konnten wir nur kurz vorbei gehen. Wir kommen aber auf alle Fälle noch einmal wieder mit mehr Zeit für die ständige Ausstellung. Bei einem Eintrittspreis von 7€ auch eher...
