Kaminia is a sandy beach located 34 km south of Argostoli, the beautiful capital of Kefalonia, and close to Skala village. It is one of the longest beaches of Kefalonia with crystalline waters, an ideal spot for a silent and relaxed day under the warm sun. The beach offers shelter to the loggerhead Carretta-Carretta sea turtles which used to be suffering mass extinction. The turtles nest in the gently sloped sand during the midnights of May and August, and if visitors are lucky they might witness them coming out of their eggs and running to the sea.
One long row of colorful sunbeds and umbrellas cover the sand offering lovely views of the endless blue sea. Kaminia is connected to the neighboring beach of Mounda offering a huge space where people can freely enjoy several activities and long walks along the beautiful coast.
There is a small snack bar right on the beach where visitors can refresh after a long stroll or swimming session with a beautiful panoramic view of the lush hilly cape. A tavern and a cafe are also available nearby. The area is relatively quiet and the water is warm and shallow, making it ideal for families with young children. The countryside of Katelios village offers a perfect opportunity for enchanting walks amidst the lush green forests. It takes some minutes of walking to reach this beach, and it is easily accessible from the village of...

The name Kaminia Beach is often used to refer to the entire two kilometer long stretch of beautiful sand beach on the southeastern coast of Kefalonia, but more specifically, it refers to the western part of the beach where you'll find some sunbeds and easier access. The eastern one kilometer long, quieter section without sunbeds is often called Mounda Beach.
This beach is a true gem — soft golden sand, clear shallow waters, and a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by nature. It’s an important nesting site for loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta), so the area is protected — please respect the signs and avoid disturbing the dunes.
While the western end (Kaminia) is more commonly visited by textile beachgoers, if you walk east along the sand, you’ll reach a relaxed FKK section popular with naturists — including naturist families. The vibe is quiet, respectful, and welcoming to all who enjoy the freedom and simplicity of being in nature.
There are no beach bars, loud music, or tourist facilities here — just the sea, the sand, and the sky. Bring whatever you need, and enjoy one of the last truly natural beaches...
Read moreLong fine brown sandy beach. I get what the hype is as you settle down to relax and let go of all your thoughts allowing the waters to sweep away all the stresses on your mind
Stay on the main roads though when getting to the beach. I took an old goat track recommended by google and got caught in the rough tumble of a terribly rocky road which wasn’t pleasant. Once there I did chill and enjoyed what the beach had to offer
There’s a canteen on the beach and a restaurant. Food at the restaurant is great and well presented but a touch on the pricy side so be prepared
Would recommend a visit...
