We have just spent two good weeks in this small but very good Hotel. ||The rooms are large, well served with maid service, air con, Good Bathrooms, Big comfy beds, pleasant terraces/balconies.||The Hotel is set back from the beach with a different hotel in front of it , and a very noticeable pylon also in front of it. Do not let this put you off. The other Hotel is not noisy or intrusive and these are the only two premises in the area. ||It is quiet. In the mornings mostly all you hear is the waves and sheep bells.||Breakfast is copious and if you want cooked things like eggs and Greek bacon this is available , you get yoghurt honey jams bread cakes pastries cheese ham fresh fruit etc with tea or coffee routinely .||Dinner is a choice of either off the menu or the dish of the day. In the two weeks we were there the dish of the day was never repeated. Salads are good. The Greek dishes like Souvlaki were preferred by us . In common with most Greek cooking they tend not to have varieties of meat and green veg together. iThey have their own wines reasonably priced, and good Dortmunder beer . ||You are literally a stones throw from the beach which is huge (4 miles?) and apart from a couple of pockets of sun beds (8 Euros for two and umbrella all day) it is natural and unbuilt- on, thank heavens. If you turn left and walk you find some sun worshippers who have forgotten clothes but its all very polite and unobtrusive and nothing distasteful. The direct beach front is favoured by dressed sunworshippers and families, mostly building sand castles (good castle building sand).||The sea shelves fairly shallowly so it is warm and safe , but its shallowness means the wind can make it bouncy in the afternoons. Fine to swim in . Not much marine life sadly. ||If you turn right on the Beach and walk for a bit there is a nice beach bar and a posh restaurant called Anemos which is reputed to be good and not too pricey. ||The Hotel is a family run operation with a small team of family. They are efficient and service is prompt and requests are well attended two. Special mentions of Alex , Teta, Dimitri, and the lovely room maid whose name I dont have .||The Hotel will pop you into Skala and pick you up when you phone for around 11 euros . Skala seems to be rather tailored to British Package Tourists - its fine but we preferred the quieter part we were in. Dimitri will drive you on sightseeing tours (We climbed the mountain which took a good part of the day and he was most helpful) . He is also a rare creature a careful sensible driver who takes roads with sheer drops very carefully. ||Mounda is a quiet place . Most people who are there arrive by car to go to the beach and leave at the end of the day. So the evenings and mornings are very peaceful. ||There is no pool at Mounda beach Hotel but there is one at the other hotel and it is open to all who want to use it. (Its good manners to buy a drink or food but its not a condition that you have to). ||We would definitely recommend Mounda...

Read moreI have not long returned from a 6 night stay at Mounda Beach Hotel as a solo traveller for the first time.||Excellent email communication before I arrived, so warm, friendly, efficient and accommodating. Teta eased any solo pre-travel nerves.||From the moment I arrived I was met with warmth, kindness and efficiency. ||The room was large with a very large veranda overlooking the sea. It was spotlessly clean and had everything I needed and more. I did not have to pay extra for a single person either.||I was looking for a retreat style place and this was it. Just 2 hotels nestled in beautiful hilly surrounding area, all you could hear was birds and the lapping of the sea. It was beautiful and you can watch the sunset from your table at the restaurant every night.||The beach was stunning, crystal clear water (it reminded me of the Bahamas) no crowds, bars, noise. It is a conservation area as the turtles lay their eggs on the beach from June (Hatch end of Aug) I saw a nest on second to last day as they are marked out to protect the eggs. 2 Sunbeds and umbrella 7 Euros. You have full use of all the facilities of the neighbouring hotel (lovely people) and there is a well stocked shop for all essentials. ||The nearest town is a 10 min drive away by car, worth taking a trip out, it is such a beautiful island. Food at the hotel was absolutely fantastic. I am vegetarian and will eat a little fish. At breakfast (which was also top quality and beautifully presented) Alex discussed what was on the menu that evening and ordered something else if it was not to my liking (really!) People have described this place as home from home and that was my experience. There was acts of kindness every single day and every member of staff was so kind and friendly. Thankyou to the lovely Tina who cleaned my room so beautifully.||Very good organic wine (I am fussy) served in beautiful glasses, all the food was presented beautifully. ||Alex was a wonderful host who remembered everything, your likes etc was always there with a smile and really looked after everyone, treating all the guests as individuals and with great care.||I would book the airport transfer with the hotel and they also offer taxi service and car hire, arrange trips etc at a very reasonable rate.||I am well travelled and always stay in at least a 4* This place not only met 4* standards in certain areas, it exceeded it in others, particularly with the service and warmth.||I absolutely loved it and without doubt will visit again.||Thankyou to all the wonderful staff at Mounda Beach, I had a wonderful relaxing,...
