Megas Lakkos Beach is a hidden gem that offers a unique and unforgettable experience. With its stretches of red sandy shores and crystal-clear waters, the beach's beauty is undeniable. What makes this beach especially appealing is its child-friendly nature; the shallow waters extend for quite a distance, making it ideal for young ones to safely explore. The entire coastline is composed of clay, inviting visitors to indulge in the fun of natural mud baths using the clay.

The beach is not only a haven for relaxation but also a playground for various activities. From building sandcastles to engaging in beach volleyball or even bringing along rackets for a game, there's something for everyone. The beach boasts both untouched natural stretches and areas where you can rent umbrellas, with prices ranging from 7 to 12 euros depending on the location.

A highlight that truly sets Megas Lakkos Beach apart is the rare opportunity to witness the hatching of loggerhead sea turtles, known as caretta caretta. This incredible spectacle adds a layer of wonder and natural beauty to the experience, making a visit to this beach a truly...

Relaxed beach with clay and red sand This beach has a calm, laid-back atmosphere. There are a few sunbeds available, but also enough space if you bring your own umbrella and towel. The red sand can get quite hot during the day, so sandals help.

A unique feature is the natural grey clay along the cliffs, which some people apply to their skin like a spa treatment. It’s said to be rich in minerals—just apply, let it dry for 10–15 minutes, then rinse off (as long as you’re not allergic). The clay makes the water less clear than at other beaches, and the shoreline can get slippery.

If you walk a bit, you might spot protected turtle nests—nice to see, but of course, don’t touch.

There are a couple of nearby beach cafés and restaurants, and facilities like a shower and changing room are available.

Overall, a pleasant beach with some interesting features. Not the most picturesque spot, but worth a visit if you’re nearby. The Oasis restaurant close by is also a...

Paralia Megas Lakkos is a surprisingly beautiful beach, distinguished by its warm, copper-colored sand. We chose this beach over the more famous Xi Beach, which was much more crowded. In fact, the two beaches are neighbors and share the same distinctive sand, but Megas Lakkos offers a much more peaceful and spacious setting.

After visiting numerous beaches—many stunning but covered in pebbles—our feet were grateful for the soft sand and the gentle, gradual entrance into the sea. The water was incredibly calm, perfect for swimming and relaxing, and the view from above revealed a breathtaking mix of turquoise and copper tones.

The beach is equipped with sunbeds and a modest beach bar, where you’ll find everything you need for a comfortable stay — from cold drinks and snacks to a refreshing cocktail to enjoy by the sea.

Altogether, a quiet and unexpectedly charming beach that’s well worth...

The beach is a must. The reddish/brown sandy beach is unique. Everything is sand; in the water there is just a little gravel and then sand again, and under a thin layer of sand there is clay (in the water). You can walk far into the water because it only gets deep later. It’s huge, so there’s plenty of space to find a quiet spot. Parking is free, but you should get there as early as possible or in the late afternoon. There’s a bar with sun loungers; otherwise, everything is free. There’s also a restaurant next to the parking lot. Additionally, there are turtle nests here. If you’re lucky, one might hatch in the evening. The chances for that are greatest between 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm. After that, it’s forbidden to be on the beach (as far as I know) so as not to disturb the baby turtles or accidentally step on one. We weren’t lucky enough to see any. Still, a beautiful beach.
