Beautiful beach with a shallow shoreline making it very family friendly and accessible for those who are not strong swimmers.
We used a privately run carpark which backs on to the beach which cost 4 euros for the day which seemed very reasonable and there were a few locations where you could leave the car in the shade of a tree. The carpark was manned all day so we felt the hired car would be fairly safe there. The is also on street parking very nearby although this can fill up fairly quickly.
There is a lovely bar on the beach serving fantastic looking food, cold drinks, both soft and alcoholic and ice creams. Soft drinks are a little pricey but on a hot day you tend to over look that in favour of the cold beverage.
There are loungers for hire for 1 euro and parasols for 8 euros, highly recommended especially if you have young children. We visited at the end of July and the sand was so hot it was very difficult to walk on, wooden walkways are in place but once these get covered in sand they tend to be equally as hot. Bear feet is challenging unless you are made of asbestos, take flip flops!
Waters ports activities can be arranged on the beach, paras ailing, jetski, kayak, all competively priced and the operation is well run with friendly and helpful staff. Highly...
Read moreThe beach is decent, nothing extraordinary, as seen in other areas of Northern Greece. On our visit, it was wavy but waves can be fun.
The actual bar by the beach serves a range of drinks and snacks and staff were quite attentive.
The downside aspects of the beach were The minimarket; overpriced so limit your purchases to the bare necessary and ensure you carry the basics in advance (e.g. flip-flops are at least 5-6€ more expensive) The sunbed charges; one side with the most basic sunbeds and self-service, was charging 30€ for the set of front sunbeds absolutely for no reason. Upon feedback that price tags needed to be placed on the umbrella, I was rudely told "it's best to find out first hand". Just because the island receives a lot of international tourism, it doesn't mean that we have to exploit people for nothing. On the other side with the thick mattresses, we were told that the sunbed pricing ranged from 60€ per set at the front and 40€ in the middle to 30€ ( if recalling correctly) at the rear end of the beach bar. It was a staff serviced bar and the mattresses looked comfortable but again, paying so much just to lie down... you might as well get a room.
If people continue acting as such, tourism certainly has an...
Read moreThe beach is beautiful & the water is crystal clear. However the guy who rents sunbeds on the right side of the beach is one of the rudest people I've ever seen. Let me be clear for anyone who doesn't know how it works: this man has a license to put sunbeds on 300 square meters of the beach for 2 years. HE DOES NOT OWN PART OF THE BEACH. THE BEACH IS PUBLIC PROPERTY. Anytime someone tries to put their towel in the sand close to the sunbeds, he comes running, shouting & causing a scene that the public beach is on the other side and his paying customers can't have freeloading vermin in front of them. He did this to us yesterday and to another group a while later, shouting like a tsopanis. Awful, awful man. For anyone who wants to give money to this person, keep in mind he charges 30 euros/set...
