Definitely a funny place. The reconstruction of Mionian architecture made by first grade kids. Especially notable the fantastic use of concrete and glass to preserve fresco copies probably painted back in the 80s by art school volunteers. This site offers you the unique opportunity to contemplete the void in a georgeous paraleal between Greek culture and Buddhism. Seriously speaking: if you are looking for an archeological site here you will find no more than few old stones without any kind of proper restauration or educational illustration. Moreover, we tried to download the app that was suppose to offer a guided tour of site but the link doesn't work and free WiFi is not provided. We had to count on the oldest structures on the site: the old fashioned metal plates with the short descriptions. Our visit lasted 25 minutes reading every single description panel. If you expect something like Pompeii or smt similar, this not the place for you. A rip off. Not worth a visit. Save 15 euro...
Read moreI visited last week, and as soon as I arrived, I was swarmed by tour guides desperately trying to sell me a €100 tour or urging me to wait for a group to form to pay less. The atmosphere felt more like an organisation pressuring visitors than a welcoming heritage site, it was uncomfortable and completely unnecessary. I was also short on time, so I asked for an alternative.
No one mentioned there was a QR code inside to access the app, which provides free and detailed information for each stop. Instead, they pressured me into getting the audioguide, a total scam. It was the worst I’ve ever used, it explained nothing (I ended up downloading the app anyway to actually learn something, for free!). On top of that, it was ridiculously expensive. I strongly advise against both the guides and the audioguide. The app is all you need, and you’ll avoid the stressful...
Read moreYou have to realize that this is the most ancient place you are able to visit accept from the Egyptian sights. It was ruined by the huge earthquake during the eruption of the huge volcano, that almost distroyed the island of Santorini. And now you can stand at the palace of many myths. And it is a miracle. The entrance fee is 13€ (year 2024), free public parking, but there is a fee for toilets :( The visit takes you 1-2 hours, you have to walk at the direct sun and there is just one bufet with the refreshment. There are many people offering the guided tours for a lot of eur, there is no need to have a guide. There are many information desks that can be read and translate to your language - just use google - reading or talking texts 😉 worth to visit, check the website for the actual opening hours that are different according to the...
