The elegance is sometimes hidden in the simplicity✨ The trip to Messinia region couldn’t end in a better way. Our last stop is @costanavarino which is one of the most prestigious destination in Greece. The resort is very well know for its sustainable practices and golf experiences! Both of them are super exciting, right?😍 We will be staying here for the next few days to explore the whole area of the resort and get the most of it! There are so many activities to do and places to admire which will take us some time for sure. Stay tuned! We will have our stay July/August (20 days) but we booked very early. Usually I would not review a place before I have been there, but in this case it is warranted as the experience before arriving is worth describing. I will write/amend this review after our stay. We (family of 3) booked the place through the Marriott Bonvoy webpage as a Platinum member. As we will be travelling with a 2 yr old, we specifically decided for this property as they advertised great kid programs/nursery options. When we reached out to book these in advance, they told us that the program for the under 4 yr old has been discontinued because of Corona - why wasn't this mentioned on the website? The booking agent asked us whether we wanted to reserve anything in advance as it is a busy time in the year. We were grateful for the tip and asked what activities would usually be the ones that are overbooked - we were just given a link to the homepage with ALL activities. Not very helpful and when we called, nobody answered. Each time we reached out, a different person would reply and usually put somebody else on CC and tell us they would handle XYZ. Frustrating experience. Nobody taking the responsibility and just trying to hand us to somebody else who would deal with it. Same for airport transport: we were just send a list of available cars with prices that were as high as a rental for the full 20 days... When we inquired about SCUBA, we were handed over to somebody else from the diving school, who, when asked why the rates for hotel visitors were higher than on their regular website explained to us that the hotel guests get a 5* experience and that this costs extra - I hope the "regular" dive customers will get descent service nonetheless they are not staying at the Westin... Seriously, if this is the service we will be in for, I assume this 2* review is being downgraded to a 1*. Update 1: we have arrived and checked in. The professional staff is very friendly - reception, waiters, room service. We were greeted by the manager who told us he wanted to meet us in the afternoon (never followed up) and when we asked for an upgrade (Marriott Bon Voy Status) he told us it was not possible right now but he will look into it (if it is the same like the meeting request, nothing will happen). One really bad thing: pool staff (life guards) is very unfriendly. You are not allowed to bring floating toys to the pool (please remember this is a hotel that advertises itself as very kid friendly) which we use to teach our little one how to swim... The grounds are not very tidy/clean. There is garbage and discarded masks in the plants. At the beach are a lot (really a lot) of broken sticks/bamboo pieces that I stepped into and can harm you. How can you let this happen in a resort in which every second family brings children? The room and the resort itself has some wear and tear that is not becoming of a 5* hotel. Update 2: We are here for 10 days now. The garbage on the grounds/at the pool is really disturbing - especially once you notice it, it becomes more and more apparent. But putting this aside here are a couple other things that really don’t fit with a 5* category: * there are no hygiene bags for ladies in the bathrooms * You are not allowed on any other water slides than one with your children, even if you are willing to sign a waiver * the air condition is limited to -3 degrees cooler than outside temperature * there is mold in the bathrooms * some metal construction near the pool is rusting and you can cut yourself on it (it used to be covered, but the cover has worn off * the towels at the pools have holes and wear & tear * some of the golf cart drivers that help you to navigate the quite big grounds go very fast and are not very observant, so you have to be extra careful when walking with children (our toddler had a near collision when the driver of a cart was turning around to speak with a guest while going downhill full speed - just me grabbing and screaming helped to prevent an accident) (TBC)

Westin Costa Navarino tries to market itself as a family resort and with the kids club and aqua park has the facilities to be successful. However of the multiple swimming pools good luck trying to find some peace and quiet to relax. The music blaring out at every pool is almost unbearable and each lifeguard seems to think he is the next David Guetta ! Most people don't want to hear this "club music" whilst lying by a pool . If they did they would go to Ibiza !! The customer service is lacking massively and the staff always seem to be rushing around at breakfast without being able to focus on what you might want to order to drink . If you are lucky you will be shown to a table but otherwise you will need to fend for yourself and find your own, before waiting a further 10 minutes to be asked if you would like a coffee. On our last day at the resort there was almost no foot left by 10am and the staff were completely over-run. We had to go get our own cutlery. Glasses and jug of Orange Juice (which we then shared with the neighbouring table). There seems to be no continuity with staff. We rarely saw the same face twice. The food itself is ok but nothing to look fwd too. There are a number of restaurants within the resort. The Souvlakerie offers the best value (family of 2 adults and 2 kids can eat for about €25) and nicest food for lunch. The diner ( by the water park) looks great but the food is absolutely terrible and all processed rubbish and totally over priced. I.e nachos come with "liquid cheese" which is literally out of a bottle!! A quick lunch snack there will cost around eur 40. For dinner the Flame restaurant at the golf club is very good for a steak and the Italian Da Luigi is also decent for pizza / pasta but slow service . The food at the buffet is very hit and miss. The location of the hotel is good ( about an hour from the Airport & pretty much on the beach (5 min walk) and all totally self contained. If you have a problem though then good luck in trying to get it resolved with the management. They only want to argue and are very stubborn in admitting when they are at fault They may apologies but then do nothing to rectify. We had trouble with our transfer from the airport resulting in us getting a local taxi that had to put the single back seat down so our luggage would fit. There was no seatbelts or child seats. It was only after speaking direct with our travel agent that it appeared the fault was with the hotel. They refused to admit responsibility until confronted with the email from our travel agent. And then we were sent a bowl of mouldy fruit to make up for it. The wifi connection will cost €60 for all round access for a week but the connection is terrible and should not be a chargable such is the poor quality. The sun beds are basic and 6/10 in comfort. Could do with an upgrade and some comfy cushions. This hotel is not cheap and we have stayed in other hotels that market themselves the same but in every way they win hands down. We stayed using the half board option which on the whole was just about worth it, but whether you would opt for HB or B&B you should always make sure you check the bills after each meal or drink as on 3 separate occasions were over-charged and had to have the bill adjusted down. Conveniently we were never under charged which the cynic in me says is not all co-incidence . I just get the impression this hotel is after absolutely every penny they can get from the guests, whether it's the wifi or charging for a baby bottle of milk ( which most other hotels of a similar calibre provide free). Another niggle is the nonsense that is the "towel card". You are issued with 4 separate cards on check-in and see suppose to hand these in on each visit to the pool and then when you are finished for the day clear up your own towels to get your cards back . Never seen or heard of this before and it is just nuisance that guests could do without. Having towel police round the pool does not set the right mood from the outset. On the upside, the facilities available are fantastic, including free water park for kids, and the chargeable use of golf course, bowling alleys, pool tables. It really does have the potential to be a great place to stay, if the management and staff changed their attitudes, increased head-count and were more organised especially at meal times.

We had a family suite which was perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids , the room was modern, bright, clean and...

Unfortunately, i am not one to review my stays, but i feel i am obliged to do so because if the hotel does not have a social responsibility towards its guests, I do. While we were in our rooms, my son of 5 years old was junping on the bed and fell straight on his forehead and started to have a lump that was only getting bigger. I immediately called the guest services at 6:40pm asking for an urgent Doctor to consult my son and i explained the accident and that he had a head injury, the lady replied that she will call me back in 5 minutes. She does call back stating that the doctor needs 30-40mns. So i told her that I will not wait. I would rather have an ambulance and take him to the nearest hospital. The lady said she would handle and take care of the transfer. Meanwhile, we were on video calls with our doctors back home. After 15-20 mns, still nothing, no action taken. I call again, asking why we were kot attended to, and each phone call i had to explain the situation to the person that answers, they tell me that the security had been notified of the situation.(no idea what the security has to do with this). And i called again, and each time, the answer was that someone would call us back. At around 8:00 pm when we had talked to our doctors back home and contained the situation, my wife decided to go herself to the reception, totally disappointed to understand why it has been around one hour and a half, and no one has even knocked on our door to see what had happened, no one has taken any safety measures, no one had attended to us. Head injury from a fall, doctor , ambulance, hospital aren’t all these words worrisome? And require strict health and safety measures? My wife and I were under the assumption of being in a safe, professional, and reputable hotel where the minimum healthcare provider was supposed to be in-house. Since this is a Marriott Bonvoy as well and it is marketed as a FAMILY RESORT! Shouldn’t there be at least a first aid person 24/7? Especially that the nearest hospital is 40-45 mns away. At least send someone, anyone! To the room. Maybe that is too much since we had to as well go to the reception and then we were provided with a doctor that arrived at 8:30 pm. And said and i quote “i was informed of your incident at 6:45, but i was NEVER called in”! And neither was the ambulance. We were very disturbed by this total lack of responsibility, lack of respect for human life, lack of communication, and surely lack of expertise. It took us two days to get back to normal, as we wanted to leave the second day, but we had already paid in advance, and even to add, we were never contacted after the doctor left, until 1 pm the next day, only because we had complained thoroughly to our travel agent. Now here is the fun part, we had been highly uncomfortable and uncertain of the credibility of this resort and the action taken was a bouquet of flowers sent to the room and an invitation to two 30 minute massages, that i surely refused. It is a disgrace, and i will surely raise this issue to Marriott International. And take legal action if need be, and Marriott can access the phone logs for these dates, and they can mark my words for every single word i have written here. The safety of my kids is my first and foremost priority. Apparently, they do not value that. The management also needs to step down from the cloud they live in and be more on the ground with customers. Thank you for this uncomfortable journey that we will never forget nor repeat. On the other hand, I would like to thank the lovely young staff they have, at the pool, the restaurants, the room cleaning ladies and buggy drivers (although we did raise the point that the buggies were not organized at all, and they might ask you to go to destinations walking and would not stop even if you have 3 kids) . Most of them were very welcoming and friendly. Reply to the executive assistant: Communication breakdown? I called every 10 mns for an hour and a half check your logs. You would like to advise me that your first aiders are available...
