Nice site to visit, very disappointed on the staff selling the entrance ticket. Be aware you can be overcharged when paying in dollars! I asked how much the ticket is, the guy told me 20 dollars. I gave him 100 dollars note and asked if I can get the change in dollars. He said yes. After 10 min of waiting without any explanation on what he was doing, giving the bancnote to his colleague for extra checks, signing lots of paperwork and calculating on his calculator, he gives me back the change in dollars and local money. He said he will give me back the change in dollars! I asked why, he said that the rate has changed! The rate has changed in 10 min ?! Why do you tell me the ticket is 20 dollars and not give me 80 dollars back? Simple. Felt like a scam. What an entrance and start into the park.......

I am going to start with a practicality. As of late 2024, you MUST get tickets before you arrive at the park. Don’t come here without tickets or you might have to go 65kms back to Flores to buy them at the nearest Banrural Bank. Practicalities aside, this is one of the best archaeological parks in the world, and we say this as a couple who have been to 75 countries. What makes this so special is the combination of magnificent Mayan temples and natural wonders. During our visit we saw spider monkeys, howler monkeys, coatis, capybaras, toucans and turkeys. Entrance costs 150 quetzals a day for foreigners.

I would like to offer the idea of e-bikes. You could charge twice or possibly three times the ticket price to get in. For the rental of the e-bike. It's not like the trails are going to get any more messed up, the park is already driving hino trucks all over. You could have areas where bikes are not allowed too. Also, keep in mind that you cannot climb the actual pyramids. They are too steep. There are some wooden structures that they have attached to the pyramids. So you can go to the top. Or nearly to the top.
