Inaugurated on 18th November, 2000 to commemorate the 75th year of the advent of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, this architectural marvel houses anexhibition on the Life and Mission of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. With multimedia presentations and fascinating exhibits arranged in seven phases, the museum takes the visitor through the story of Bhagawan’s birth and childhood, the prophecies connected with His Advent, and major milestones in the grand Mission of the Avatar.

Location It is located beside the statues of great spiritual masters of the world that stand overlooking the Sri Sathya Sai Hill View stadium.

Uniqueness of its Architecture Constructed on a hill slope, the building is a mosaic of different architectural styles and a fusion of the ancient and the modern.

The roof, built in typical oriental fashion, is the biggest Chinese roof outside mainland China.Flanking the roof on both sides are two Moorish domes made of titanium. The crowning semicircular ends of the roof are adorned with Gothic arches. The two lift shafts have Japanese style roofs.

Apart from these features, it has extensive stapathi (traditional Indian carving) work done on flat surfaces, which vastly enhances the aesthetics of the building. Fiber optic lights fixed under the Chinese roof add to the beauty of the reflected decorative ceiling. The flooring inside consists of ceramic tiles, polished granite tiles in grey and red colours, Jaisalmer marble tiles and white...

Chaitanya Jyoti Museum was planned to commemorate Bhagavan’s 75th Birthday as a fitting tribute to the Lord’s Life, Work, and Teachings.

Recently museum achieved the biggest landmark by crossing a number of visitors by more than 50 lakhs (Five Million).

That dream building came alive as the Chaitanya Jyoti Museum. ‘Chaitanya’ means ‘Consciousness’ and ‘Jyoti’ is ‘Light’. So, the ‘Light of Consciousness’ is a mammoth attempt to portray Swami and His Message by way of the building’s architecture and its contents of 90 exhibits based on the Life and Teachings of the omni-faceted Lord.

The building incorporates architectural styles from all over the world and thus embodies in its very design Swami’s teaching on the Unity of Humanity. There are Roman arches, Gothic windows, a Singapore designed fish pool, Moorish domes, Japanese roofing (for the lift shaft), a Greek inclusion on the roof and Indian religious figures.

Of course the majority of the influence is from China. Witness the unforgettable roof, the largest outside China. It is laid with ceramic tiles glazed using traditional methods. There are Chinese dragons, religious symbols, and decorative designs to be...

This museum is dedicated to the life and principles of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The outside boasts Chinese architecture which is just stunning. Opposite the museum you’ll see a sports field which extends right down the road. In some of these areas around the museum and sports fields (obviously not shown here) photography is prohibited. They have very specific timings, so check up on that before visiting to avoid disappointment. The dress code is indian traditional, or at least accompany your outfit with a shawl/ dupatta to cover your shoulder and back. The security is pretty strict about dress code, since this museum still falls within the boundaries of the ashram. Many foreigners and locals visit this place during their time in Prashanti. The place is monitored by sevadals who remind you to be mindful and respectful of the others space and maintain silence. It’s definitely a wonderful visit.

Chaitanya Jyoti Museum is a very good museum. Entry timings for morning from 9.30 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m to 5.00 p.m in the evening. There is no entry fees, it is free for all. Except Monday it will open in all the week days. It has a collection of all stories and incidents of Satya Sai Baba's life from his childhood. The architecture and structure combine Chinese Roofs, Moorish Spires, Gothic Arches, and Japanese and Thai styles.Superbly-maintained place which holds histories and facts about Swami and how he came to be. One can see those colorful, beautiful fishes while returning.A well maintained museum in puttaparthi for the people from all around the world. It will take at least one hours to visit the museum with keen interest.
