When Goddess Parvati asked Lord Shiva about his most desired place apart from Kailasa in the Universe created by him, he chose the eternally beautiful place nestled among picturesque nature, the holy Srisailam. In such a significant location, Shiva-Shakti take the form of Sri Mallikarjuna Bhramaramba to bless all their devotees 🕉. Narasimhaswamy in Satyayugam, Sri Rama alongside Sita Devi in Tretayugam, all five Pandavas in Dvaparayugam, many Yogis, Rishis, Munis, preachers, spiritual teachers, Kings, poets and devotees in Kalyug have visited Srisailam and earned the blessings of Sri Bhramarambika Devi and Mallikarjuna Swamy 🙏. 1) We visited in April'22 during the scorching summer season 🔥. Hence, couldn't experience the dam water falls. 2) Darshanam starts at 6AM. Ticket fares are as follows. Seegra Darshan Rs. 150/-, Athi Seegra Darshan Rs. 300/-, VIP break darshanam Rs. 500/-. Ticket is required for children above 10 yrs. Also, Govt. ID card is required for Rs. 300/- and 500/-. We took Aadhaar cards with us and only 2 tickets are given per Aadhaar. Sarva Darshan is free and doesn't require any ticket. 3) We are allowed to enter inside the main shrine and experience the shiva lingam by physically touching the sacred shiva lingam. Not sure if this is ticket specific, we had taken Rs. 500/- ticket. 4) Prasadam (laddu) needs to be purchased separately. Laddu prices are Rs. 20/- for 1 laddu, Rs. 100/- for 5 laddus, Rs. 200/- for 10 laddus and Rs. 400/- for 20 laddus. 5) Traditional clothing is mandatory for the devotees. Men: Pancha, kanduva; Women: Saree, Chudidhar with chunni. 6) Electronic gadgets, mobiles etc. are not allowed inside the temple. We need to keep them in Cloak room available infront of the temple queue line. 7) Annaprasada Vitharana starts on 11:30AM everyday. 8) Tonsuring of hair known as Kesha Khandanam facility is at Kalyana Katta. It is located on the way to Pathala Ganga. 9) Regarding Tolls (for cars), Forest Dept. of two states - Telangana and AP collect Rs. 50/- at Domalapenta and Mannanur checkposts respectively. Entry is not allowed between 9PM to 6AM everyday in view of safety of the piligrims. At Srisailam checkpoint, the entry ticket for cars is Rs. 100/-. It is valid for 24hrs and we need to show the slip if we're travelling across the checkpoint to see other places. Srisailam has many other names like Srigiri, Sirigiri, Sriparvatam and Srinagam. Vedas, Rishis and Siddhis also support the fact that there is no shrine like that of Srisailam. So all shall attain Mukthi if they worship Mallikarjuna Swamy.

The darshan has been commercialised by the temple administration, thus you cannot see Lord Shiva without first purchasing a ticket for a paid darshan. I went on a Sunday at 6 a.m. and was able to enter the main temple because there were fewer people, but since I was in the free darshan line, which is 15 metres away from the idol, I was unable to see the God. The closer you are to the ling depends on the more you pay. With tickets priced at ₹350 and ₹150 per person, you can view the ling from a distance; however, it is uncertain that you get to see depends on the demand for the higher-priced tickets as they will be standing in front and coveringthe idol. It costs ₹1500 for Jal Abhishek and ₹500 to touch the ling per person. There is no display or TV. The laddu is priced at 80₹, which was fresh and big.

This temple is a combination of jyotirlingam and shaktipeetam.. its an amazing experience to drive in the jungle for about 100kms which ever direction you are coming from.. either kurnool or hyderabad. I have recently visited in june 2021 and have to carry negative rt pcr test to have entry for darshan. Do look for relaxation timings and contact customer care for darshan timings.. There are lots of places around like pathala ganga, Srisailam dam, paladhara panchadara, shikaram, ista kameshwari, amrabad tiger reserve etc. Its a 1-3 day plan depending on places and time you want to spend. Be careful while driving in jungle.. deers, snakes or a peacock might pass through. If you are lucky/unlucky enough, tiger would pass through😁

We stayed in Lakshmi Narasimha cottages in Eegala penta near Hilltop Mrugavani, family room just 1500/- pwr night with amazing view of the river and awesome home cooked food.

Visited the main temple on a Saturday after Kartika masam celebrations ended - 26/Nov/2022. Medium crowd. Parked vehicle outside the temple complex for free. We have to deposit mobile phones at the entrance - mandatory - 5/- per mobile and they gave a receipt. There's a free footwear stand next to ticket counter, you can leave chappal there. Don't leave shoe there instead keep shoe in the car.

Bought tickets at 9:00 am for "Seeghra Darshanam at 150/-" and were able to complete darshanam within 30 minutes.

Free line and paid lines join just before the main temple (garba ghudi) near ratna garba ganapathi.

First you'll go through lord shiva temple and then to Goddess Bramaramba temple (optional)

You may bring coconut or not your choice.

Temple staff were really feiendly and were moving the crowd very politely.

Prasadm stalls (laddu and pulihora) are near the exit after darshanam.

There's a cultural arts stage where dance and music shows are performed, once uou cross that you'll find the prasadam stalls.

Inside the temple complex there are many small shrines and variety of shivlingams that were consecrated by pandavas and seetha devi.

You may offer coconut in four different places - in front of temple where maha arati and diyas are lit, mallikarjuna temple, Bramaramba temple and outside Brarambha temple near the exit.

For laddus you need to buy a token first and then get the laddus in counter next to that. Pulihora can be bought directly.

Had breakfast at Ganesh food court...

When Shiva and Parvati decided to find suitable brides for their sons. Shiva got Buddhi (intellect), Siddhi (spiritual power), and Riddhi (prosperity) married to Ganesha. Kartikeya on his return was enraged and went away to stay alone on Mount Kraunja in the name of Kumarabrahmachari. On seeing his father coming over to pacify him, he tried to move to another place, but on the request of the Devas, stayed close by. The place where Shiva and Parvati stayed came to be known as Shrishailam.[2]

As per Hindu legend, the presiding deity in the form of Linga (an iconic form of Shiva) was worshipped with jasmine (locally called in Telugu as Mallika), leading to the name of presiding deity as Mallikarjuna.[3]

Mahashivratri is the main festival celebrated at Srisailam Mallikarjuna Swamy temple.

History Edit Learn more This section needs expansion. You can help by adding to it. (April 2017) There are inscriptional evidence from the Satavahana dynasty which place the temple to be existent from the 2nd century. Most modern additions were done during the time of king Harihara I of Vijayanagara Empire.[3] The veerasheromandapam and paathalaganga steps was constructed during the time of...
