Arekere lake is very ill maintained and very badly polluted with water looking nearly black (however there are still people fishing in the lake). Garbage and construction debris is dumped inside the lake and also along the roadside next to the lake. Fencing is broken and has provided easy access for garbage dumping. Needs immediate attention from authorities and citizens to reclaim this lake

The lake has been upgraded and walking paths have been developed. But at few places in the walking path the soil has caved in, that needs to be fixed! The lake pavement is still dirty at places that need proper landscaping. Otherwise good for a morning run.

It’s been years the restoration and rejuvenation work is going on and getting into final stages as on July 2025.👍

The banks are strengthened, more trees been planted, importantly the walking track is nearing completion, the inlet and outlet water ways are streamlined. More to come in the coming months.

This would be a good place for the Arekere, Hulimavu residents Morning/Evening walks/jog.

Currently entry is near Hulimavu gate. There’s no parking...
