Full marks for the concept, it's a joy for kids to watch the trains come and go. When train comes to your table the lights blink green. Not all food items come in the train. Liquid things like soups are hand served. Reorders are also brought by hand but if you request they deliver by train too. Seating is spacious and train like but comfortable. Place is airy, open and we'll airconditioned. You won't feel claustrophobic or congested. 1 star for the setup.
The good part ends here.
They accepted table reservation for 630 pm after few phone calls, later times were unavailable on a Sunday but when we got there the tables were not set, and the place was almost empty except 4-5 tables There was confusion among the staff as to where to seat us, the place is large.
We sat at one and then the front desk person asked us to change our table as the captain was not present for the section where we sat. He could barely speak either Hindi or English, we somehow understood that they are not serving in this section.
Even in the next section we had to call for waiters and captain everytime. Staff looked busy doing nothing but talking to each other and walking around.
We ordered two types of soups manchow and lemon coriander and they were disaster. Worse than roadside soups. Manchow was colored water and lemon soup was cornflour and water.
Adults had skipped lunch so had some of it but kids just wouldn't eat it. Look at the photos. We complained about it and some guy tried to defend it. Another guy said sorry and took it back. By then it was 730.
We wanted to have some starters but experience with soup made us uneasy so we ordered 1 roti each and paneer tikka masala and butter chicken to see what it is. Roti was cold and then warmed and given to us. Twice.
Both veg and non veg were exact same gravy which we could see, when one of us could eat said the same thing, see photos. Paneer tikka was raw paneer with some red paste over it. Not tikka. Butter chicken was made in chicken curry kind of gravy.
After this again we complained, they said sorry and that staff is overworked and tired that's why this kind of food. Taste was ok and we were very hungry so had it anyhow. This was not sufficient for 3 adults and 3 kids so we wanted more.
They suggested some mix veg dish which when it came was again the exact same gravy as the other two, see photos. We did not have it and returned it back. This was when the Manager came, he tried to convince us that he can get it made again but we could not trust. They denied to accept the payment for the bill so we left. Atleast Manager had some courtesy and culture left in him.
Strangely, one of them came to me to request payment for a bottle of water so i paid. He even offered pan which one of us dared to try and was left disappointed.
We left the place with mixed feelings, went to have ice cream outside!
Place is fun to be in once for kids. Food and service is just low standard for the price they...

Read moreI recently visited Platform 65, the train-themed restaurant on Banerghatta Road in Bangalore, and my experience was a mix of highs and lows. Here's a breakdown of my visit:
Ambiance and Theme: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The train-themed concept at Platform 65 is truly unique and appealing, especially for kids. The restaurant is adorned with train memorabilia, and the seating arrangements resemble train compartments. It's a visual treat and adds a fun element to the dining experience.
Crowded and Long Wait: ⭐ Unfortunately, my visit fell on a Saturday night, and the place was incredibly crowded. The long waiting queue was a major turn-off, as it significantly impacted the overall dining experience. I would strongly advise avoiding weekends if you prefer a more relaxed and peaceful dining atmosphere.
Food Quality: ⭐⭐⭐ The food at Platform 65 was decent, but it didn't impress me as much as I had hoped. The menu offers a variety of options, but the taste was just average. While the presentation was appealing, the flavors didn't quite live up to expectations. I was left feeling somewhat underwhelmed.
Kids' Delight: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ One aspect that made our visit worthwhile was the joy it brought to the kids. They absolutely loved the train theme and enjoyed their time on the train-like seating. Platform 65 successfully creates an environment that captures children's imagination, making it a great choice for families.
Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I must commend the serving staff at Platform 65 for their outstanding service. They were extremely generous, attentive, and courteous throughout our visit. They made sure we felt comfortable and attended to our requests promptly. The staff's professionalism added a positive touch to our overall experience.
Parking Convenience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Platform 65 offers valet car parking, which was a convenient feature. Finding parking in the busy Banerghatta Road area can be a hassle, so this service was appreciated and made our visit hassle-free.
In conclusion, Platform 65 is a unique train-themed restaurant that has its ups and downs. The ambiance and theme are captivating, especially for kids, but the place tends to get overly crowded on weekends, leading to long waiting queues. The food is satisfactory but not exceptional. If you're looking for a one-time visit to enjoy the train experience and have kids who would be thrilled by it, this place might be worth considering. The serving staff is the standout, providing excellent service throughout the evening. However, due to the crowded nature of the restaurant and average food quality, I don't see myself returning for another visit...
