The Meenakshi Temple is a must-visit for any traveler to India. It is one of the largest and most important Hindu temples in the world, and its stunning architecture and intricate sculptures are truly awe-inspiring.
The temple is dedicated to the goddess Meenakshi, a form of Shakti, and her consort, Sundareshwarar, a form of Shiva. It is located in the city of Madurai in the state of Tamil Nadu, and its history can be traced back to the 6th century AD.

Now coming to Meenakshi and Sundareshwara, the acharas, meaning the traditional rituals followed in the worship of the Gods is precisely as prescribed in the shastras. And, another great blessing here is, they have written the names of the prakara devatas (Gods surrounding the main temple) so that when we are paying our obeisance, we know which God we praying to. We worship with knowledge. This is is also one of those few Siva temples where Siva Suryan is installed. According to Dr. Rajshekar, Sivachariar who lectures on Siva Rahasyam on Sri Sankara TV, Siva Suryan, Siva in the form of Sun is a powerful presence. Devotees must worship Him and obtain His blessings before proceeding to the main temple.
Another important information:
Abhishekam for Kalabhairaveshwara swamy is performed on every ashtami tithi. We can participate in the ritual by paying Rs.400/- ( prescribed fee as on 1-5-2019)
Priests are also well versed and patient. I feel I am very fortunate to have gone there today. Thanks to my daughter....

Though the temple is situated in the main road where huge traffic will be there always, but the temple's atmosphere will give you calm and relaxing moments. One more reason is that temple is more spacious for the kids to play. The Design and appearance of all the sculptures are awesome handwork. You can refer my captures for the proofs. Temple is having pure drinking water facility and providing some Prasatham (small amount of food in a cup) to the devotees. One more attractive thing is outside the temple. There is a small shop, in which a woman is selling sculptures of God Sundareshwarar (Lingam), Ganpati, Nandhi and more in the size ranging from small to big, in less price. I came to know these sculptures were made of stones which are used inside the temple for Gods. Same stone material is used and Completely handmade. You can try this to gift your grandpa and grandma, they feel really happy. I Wish everyone to get the blessings of God Sundareshwarar and...
