Overview Swaminarayan Akshardham is a monumental Hindu temple complex in New Delhi. Opened in 2005, it is a testament to traditional Indian art, architecture, and spirituality, built in honor of Swaminarayan (1781–1830), the founder of the Swaminarayan sect of Hinduism. More than just a temple, Akshardham is a spiritual and cultural campus that offers a multi-faceted experience, making it one of the most popular tourist attractions in Delhi.

Main Mandir: The central monument is a breathtaking structure built from pink sandstone from Rajasthan and Italian Carrara marble. It is a massive structure adorned with carvings of flora, fauna, deities, and dancers. It has 234 exquisitely carved pillars, nine domes, and over 20,000 sculptures of Hindu deities and sages. At the center of the main dome is a 11-foot-high gilded statue of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. Sahaj Anand Water Show: The complex features a step-well-like structure called the Yagnapurush Kund, where a spectacular multimedia water show takes place after sunset. The show, which uses a combination of lights, lasers, fountains, and sound, narrates stories from the Upanishads. Exhibitions: There are three permanent exhibitions that offer an immersive and educational experience about Indian culture and the life of Swaminarayan. These include: Sahajanand Darshan: A Hall of Values that uses robotics and dioramas to showcase universal values like non-violence and perseverance. Neelkanth Darshan: An IMAX theater that screens a film about the pilgrimage of a young Swaminarayan. Sanskruti Darshan: A boat ride that takes visitors on a journey through 10,000 years of India's history and heritage. Gardens: The complex is surrounded by sprawling, lush gardens, including the "Garden of India," which features bronze statues of prominent Indian figures who have contributed to the nation's history and culture. Visitor Experience and Review Akshardham is a highly-rated destination for its impressive architecture, serene atmosphere, and engaging activities. Peaceful Atmosphere: Many visitors are struck by the sense of peace and tranquility that the complex offers, providing a spiritual retreat from the busy city. Cultural Experience: The blend of religious devotion, historical exhibitions, and a modern water show makes for a full-day experience that appeals to a wide range of visitors, from devotees to casual tourists. Cleanliness and Maintenance: The entire campus is immaculately clean and well-maintained. The staff and volunteers are often praised for their helpfulness and hospitality. Important Information: It's crucial for visitors to be aware of the strict security rules. Electronic devices, including mobile phones and cameras, are not allowed inside the complex. Visitors must deposit their belongings at the cloakroom, which can result in long queues, especially on weekends and holidays. The dress code requires visitors to wear clothes that cover their shoulders and knees. Accessibility and Cost: The main temple and gardens are free to enter. However, the exhibitions and the water show require separate tickets. It is easily accessible by the Delhi Metro, with a dedicated station for Akshardham. It is a good idea to dedicate an entire day to fully explore the complex and its...

The temple itself is very beautiful, even though it's new, built only 20 years ago. I even liked that you have to leave all your gadgets behind—they take them at the entrance and store them in separate lockers under supervision (I noticed the temple has a positive energy, free from the harmful influence of millions of gadgets). The fountain show is very beautiful, although it would be easier for tourists to understand if the performance was in English. I also felt a lot of marketing and business, that is, this temple is more about entertainment, and not about a sacred place (although, I repeat, the energy of the place where the temple is built is very strong. But I also want to note - the best seller of these goods in photo # 1 is indicated - the kind seller gave me a second bag because I complained about another greedy seller, in photo # 2 the product of the greedy seller, from whom I asked for a paper bag with handles, but he did not give it to me, and even this greedy seller did not want to sell me a paper bag with handles, he said that I can buy only from plastic (but I live in a conscious protection of the environment and do not want to buy a plastic bag) and gave small bags without handles, without the ability to carry the goods in a large package comfortably while walking around the temple grounds. I bought goods from both sellers. I bought them at the same price of 300 rupees and spent a total of about 700 rupees in this store. I also want to say that aromatic The sticks I bought in a large sealed package where I couldn't see the color and quality turned out to be chemical, not natural. I was so upset by the bad service that I even cried - this greedy salesman ruined my whole evening and impressions of my arrival in India😭
