"Great Place to Try French Cuisine"
La Plage in French means "The Beach" and as the name suggests the location is by the beach. It serves great French food. Normally, this place is visited by lot of International Foreigners and is close during Monsoon. This place is not at all romantic but it is comfortable.
The highlight is that most of their dishes alwere served with green leafy salad and less oily. Basically, they were healthy. We tried lot of sea food dishes and chicken dish. The plating is pretty.
We had fruit juice which were concentrated and Sugar free.
For main course we had Prawn Ratatouille stuffed calamari with vinegar balsamic reduction - Go for it if you are okay with the vinegar smell and taste. Carmalised Chicken Skewers with sweet potato and home made mustard - if you are an Indian then you are going to love the chicken. Sadly, the quantity is quite less. Calamari a la plancha miso and sesame glazed aubergines with braised bok choy - The dish serves calamari as kind of whole. We, Indians, are not used to eat Calamari in this way. Not that it did not taste bad and foodie adventures should definitely go for it
We had desert called Baby Chocolate Fondant with Fresh Vanilla Cream from Kerala. Ppl not fond too much chocolate can opt for this !
The place is pricy. It costed around 3K. Parking is an issue ! The parking space is small and it gets full. PRE-BOOKING your table is highly advisable as this place is mostly crowded and specially during peak season it gets flooded with tourists.
This place is great to visit with friends and partner and is not a place for a typical normal Indian Family. I would definitely not visit the place with my parents and grandparents because the food will not be to their liking.
Overall, it is a great place and I would love to...
Read moreWe were a group of 7 who went to La Plage on a friend's (very high) recommendation. First issue, finding the place after dark was a pain in the patootie because google maps showed some complicated path and the board to announce the path is very dull. The restaurant shuts down at 10. We went on a Monday night. Food - veg options were very limited to begin with and then some of those items weren't even available. Pineapple raita with spicy basmati rice was not at all good, spinach and ricotta ravioli was ok and veg risotta was yummy. In non veg, on the day shrimp, certain fish etc were not available which severely constrained what one could order. The beef burger was strictly ok, the crusted fish was good (especially the mash) and the grilled chicken was also just ok. The creme brulee was mind blowing but the chocolate thali was not just strictly ok, I am unsure what kind of weird milk/water they are trying to pass of as vanilla ice cream. The vibe and atmosphere is gorgeous though. You can hear the waves and the place is set up beautifully. Service was super slow. My friend had to walk upto the counter and get the pickle after asking the waiter multiple times and not receiving it. The drinks were good though. For how expensive the place is and the difficulty in getting to it, we consoled ourselves that the price paid was for the atmosphere. I would only recommend La Plage to someone on their honeymoon looking for a romantic atmosphere and not too worried about the food or for...
