Gopal Restaurant & Huts — Restaurant in Goa

Firstly, its a tough road to this place. But had to make my way here as I'd read about it being a great joint for sea food. I'm disappointed to say it is absolutely NOT!!

The staff is extremely pretentious and will sell you anything to lure tempting you to order. The menu too is deliberately limited and they try and push the pricier ones first.

The quality of food is terrible and to my surprise was served half cooked (fish) and cold. We had to request them to heat the food. We were also asked to finish up before 10 which was under an hour of when we arrived since they had to close down as there were no customers. Whereas, while placing the order we were told we could sit as long as we like ( which we didn't intend to after such a terrible experience). Some basic fish/curries are highly priced at the quality being offered.

I've had way better experiences with food and service in not so far away eateries. Be wary and stay away from this place if you don't want to...

Overpriced and arrogant for the shack they are. The chilli cheese sandwiches are top class. However, try to eat them before they chuck you out claiming that you have spent one hour sitting in their seats. Also their bathrooms are appallingly dirty - wonder why they don't clean them regularly.

There was no one waiting to enter the shackles, but they asked us to leave - so we did and Gopal lost our business for good!

PS the minder stands menacingly at the entrance! Wonder why customers...

Gopal's is still one of the old-school places on that beach. It's nice to hang and meet people. The service is lacking a bit with waiters not being very attentive. And there is a more expensive weekend menu pulled out Friday evening. Also the front row of sun beds costs 100 Rs extra, which should be free if you order food and drinks, etc. Besides that I like to go and hang there and even stay. Rooms are clean and basic but affordable which is rare by now on this...
