Manali Sanctuary, Manali A visit to Manali is no doubt incomplete without a holiday at the Manali Sanctuary, which is an astounding and impressive wildlife sanctuary located in Himachal Pradesh. The wildlife sanctuary is at a walking distance from the main town and city centre of Manali and is the ideal spot to explore the rich flora and fauna that the place harbours. Other than opportunities of sighting a variety of these reptiles, birds, animals and mammals; Manali Sanctuary also has ample options that will entice the adventurous and fun loving soul. These include the fabulous trekking routes and camping facilities. The Manali Wildlife Sanctuary is no doubt a paradise on Earth for all animal and nature lovers who flock here in large numbers to experience what this heaven feels like. The Manali Sanctuary commences from just behind the town and extends all the way up in the mountains behind the hill station. It was officially declared as a sanctuary in the year 1954 on 26 February, under the Punjab Birds and Wild Animals Protection Act of 1933. Spread over an area of just 31.80 square kilometres, the sanctuary, nevertheless, has everything that you would expect from a typical shelter. It is home to all kinds of species of flora and fauna: rare, endangered as well as common; such as the Himalayan Black Bear, Kashmir flying Squirrel, Himalayan Palm Civet, Himalayan Yellow-throated Marten, Barking Deer, Flying Fox, etc. What the Manali Wildlife Sanctuary provides in addition to the usual biological diversity and adventure sports is its breathtaking scenic beauty. Visitors get to explore snow-capped mountains, alpine trees and the picturesque beauty of the surroundings, all at the same time. The place is the ideal tourist spot for honeymooners and couples who want to enjoy themselves in blissful solitude and capture their memories in the form of beautiful pictures forever.

Van Vihar National Park, located in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, is a unique blend of a zoological park and a protected natural habitat. Spread over an area of about 4.45 square kilometers along the Upper Lake, it offers a safe refuge for numerous species of animals and birds, while allowing visitors to experience wildlife in a natural environment. Unlike conventional zoos, Van Vihar functions as an open rescue center for animals, many of which have been brought here after being orphaned, injured, or rescued from illegal captivity. The park is home to a variety of species, including tigers, leopards, lions, sloth bears, hyenas, and crocodiles, as well as several species of deer such as chital, sambhar, and blackbuck. Birds like kingfishers, herons, egrets, and migratory species can also be spotted here, making it a haven for birdwatchers. A special feature of Van Vihar is that carnivorous animals are kept in large enclosures, while herbivores roam freely in the open range. Apart from wildlife, the park offers a peaceful setting for nature walks and cycling along its well-maintained pathways. Its location beside the Upper Lake adds to the scenic charm, creating opportunities for photography and relaxation. Van Vihar National Park stands as an important reminder of the need to protect wildlife while allowing people to connect with nature in an ethical and educational way.

Van Vihar National Park in Manali is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and animal lovers alike. The park is located on the banks of the Beas River and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Upon arriving at the park, we were greeted by a variety of wildlife including deer, leopards, and even a bear! The park staff were knowledgeable and provided us with a map and information on the different species that can be found in the park. We took a guided tour through the park which allowed us to get up close and personal with the animals. Our guide was able to point out different species and provided us with interesting facts about each one. The highlight of the tour was definitely when we came across a group of monkeys playing in a tree. In addition to the wildlife, the park also offers a variety of activities such as hiking and bird watching. The hiking trails were well-maintained and offered beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. We also had the opportunity to spot a variety of bird species during our hike. Overall, Van Vihar National Park is a must-visit destination for anyone visiting Manali. The park offers a unique and exciting wildlife experience, as well as beautiful hiking trails. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, making our visit even more enjoyable. I highly recommend visiting this park to any nature lover!

Van Vihar National Park in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, is a popular and serene destination for nature lovers, families, and tourists seeking a peaceful retreat amidst lush greenery and beautiful natural landscapes. Situated in front of the Tibetan Market on Mall Road, the park is easily accessible from Manali’s town center, making it a favored spot for both locals and visitors. Known for its sprawling deodar trees, well-maintained gardens, and tranquil atmosphere, Van Vihar offers an ideal escape into nature right in the heart of the bustling hill station.

Spread over a sizable area, Van Vihar National Park is an enchanting blend of dense forests, open lawns, and a picturesque man-made lake nestled amidst tall deodar trees. The park’s natural ambience is accentuated by the sound of flowing water and the gentle rustling of leaves, creating a calming environment that attracts visitors for leisurely walks, picnics, and relaxation. The well-laid walking trails, spanning over 2 kilometers within the park, provide a refreshing experience for those who enjoy strolling through peaceful natural surroundings.

One of the park’s major attractions is the beautiful lake situated in the center. Tourists can engage in boating activities here, gliding peacefully on the water while soaking in the scenic beauty of the surrounding forested hills and floral landscapes. The picturesque lake, adorned with blooming lilies and frequented by ducks, enhances the serene vibe of the park and provides excellent opportunities for photography.

Van Vihar is also home to a small zoo that houses a variety of local wildlife. Visitors can spot animals such as Himalayan black bears, leopards, deer, and a range of bird species. The park sees a large number of bird enthusiasts as it attracts various species including kingfishers, wagtails, bulbuls, and migratory birds during specific seasons. This rich biodiversity makes the park not only a perfect picnic spot but also a delightful place for nature observation and wildlife spotting.

In addition to the natural charm, Van Vihar offers several amenities and facilities to enhance visitor experience. It features playgrounds and swings for children, making it a family-friendly destination. Benches scattered throughout the park offer resting spots for visitors to enjoy the views and tranquility. There are also small souvenir shops where visitors can purchase handicrafts and local products, adding a cultural flavor to their visit.

The park is open year-round, with opening hours generally from 8 AM to 7 PM in summer and 8 AM to 5 PM in winter. The entry fee is very nominal, making it accessible for everyone: adults are charged a small fee, and children enter at a discounted rate. Boating has a separate charge, but it provides a memorable way to experience the park’s lake.

Van Vihar National Park’s location along Mall Road makes it easy to combine a visit with other nearby attractions in Manali such as the Tibetan Market, Hidimba Devi Temple, and the bustling local bazaars. It serves as a perfect natural oasis where visitors can unwind from the excitement of shopping and...

I noticed you might be referring to Van Vihar in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, given your recent requests about Manali spots like Mall Road and Nehru Kund. However, there’s also a Van Vihar National Park in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, which is more formally recognized as a national park. Since your focus has been on Manali, I’ll dive into Van Vihar, Manali, but if you meant Bhopal’s park, just let me know, and I’ll switch gears!

Van Vihar in Manali, often called Van Vihar National Park, is a lush, riverside haven right off Mall Road, perfect for anyone craving nature with a side of chill vibes! 🌲 Spread across about 3 hectares, it’s a municipal-run park hugged by towering deodar trees and the Beas River, offering a green escape from Manali’s touristy buzz. The star attraction? A sparkling man-made lake where paddle boating (₹30 for 15 minutes) feels like floating through a postcard. A family on a boat was giggling, “This is smoother than our car ride here!” 🚣‍♂️

The vibe is relaxed yet lively—locals jog on the trails, kids swing at the small play area, and couples snap selfies against the Himalayan backdrop. Wooden benches dot the shade, ideal for picnics or just soaking in the river’s hum. A guy munching roasted corn said, “This place makes my chai taste ten times better!” ☕ Birdwatchers might spot Himalayan bulbuls, and your love for vibrant spots like Manali Bazaar tells me you’d dig the mix of nature and subtle chaos here. Evening sunsets turn the lake golden, and a tourist sighed, “This view’s worth every penny of the ticket!”

Open 8 AM to 7 PM (5 PM in winter), entry’s ₹50 per person (recently hiked from ₹5, which had a reviewer grumbling, “Bit steep for pine trees!” 😕). It’s 750 meters from Manali Bus Stand—walk 5 minutes or hop an auto (₹50). Downsides? Boating’s limited to three boats, so peak season means long waits, and there’s no food inside, so pack snacks. October-April is best; monsoons make it muddy. Pair it with Hadimba Temple or Manu Market nearby. This is the real scene—Manali’s green heart, simple but soulful! Let’s...
