Why should we Indians always take any tourists as a single-time interaction activity? Maybe not everyone but in tourist places, we get this type of behaviour. One such that I have experienced today. Today it happened with us in Cafe 1986 the so-called extremely high Google-rated cafe located in Manali Mall.
While taking the order from us the service guy informed us that the same would be served within 30 mins. Even after an hour while sitting idle when we asked then they informed us that it would take another 15 minutes. But for almost an hour after the noodles were served without the side dish that was also ordered. Again, when asked about the next, the waiter told us to wait 5 minutes. 5 minutes gone, 10 minutes gone, even 15 minutes gone, by then we were seriously hungry and were unable to wait further so started consuming the noodles. Since the side dish was getting extremely late, we told the waiter and even the guy who was at the billing counter to cancel the side dish. As we finished our food and went for payment the great restaurant requested to take the side dish gravy chilli chicken because it got ready after almost two hours. As we were done with the main dish we had to leave back the food without eating but were forced to pay for both the items even including service charges of 10% because of their excellent service. Since there is no value for tourists we are forced to face such unruly behaviour and make unreasonable payments. And this Cafe 1986 is an example. Looting time and money from the tourists.
It is expected from the hotelier/ restaurant to inform their customers about the time that will be taken to serve. You can't take tourists for granted which you are taking. I am happy that I have paid them for the foods that I have not consumed which I repeatedly requested to cancel. Paid the service charge for the food that was not served. Hope by this way Himachal tourism will flourish. May god save Cafe 1986 for the unique service they provide to...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Cafe 1986 on Mall Road in Manali, and I must say, it was an experience to remember. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the warm and welcoming ambiance that perfectly complemented the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
Special mention must go to Anjali, the manager of Cafe 1986. She is an excellent host who goes above and beyond to ensure every guest feels at home. Her attention to detail and genuine hospitality set the tone for a fantastic dining experience. Anjali's friendly demeanor and efficient service truly made our visit exceptional.
The food at Cafe 1986 is absolutely worth every penny. The menu offers a delightful array of dishes that cater to diverse tastes. Each dish we tried was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. Whether you're in the mood for local Himachali cuisine or something more continental, you're sure to find something to tantalize your taste buds. I highly recommend the Momos and the Butter Chicken – both were simply divine.
Moreover, the music at Cafe 1986 adds to the charming atmosphere. The selection is just right, creating a relaxing and enjoyable environment without overwhelming conversation. It's clear that a lot of thought has been put into every aspect of this cafe, making it a perfect spot to unwind after exploring the scenic beauty of Manali.
In conclusion, Cafe 1986 is a must-visit for anyone in Manali. The combination of excellent food, delightful music, and exceptional service, thanks to Anjali, makes it a standout choice. I can't wait to return and savor more of what this gem...
Read moreI visited this café yesterday hoping to have a good time, but I was thoroughly disappointed for the following reasons:
This place is far too small considering the number of tables they've crammed in. If you are a person of larger build, the tables near the windows are especially uncomfortable, as they feel suitable only for children aged 5–6 years.
Although all the dishes I ordered were listed as their specialities, I seriously doubt that claim. Any local street food vendor could have prepared them better. There was absolutely nothing special about them.
This place is grossly overpriced, and the food quantity does not justify the price at all.
Despite the restaurant being relatively empty in the evening, they served my mocktail after I had already finished my food. This delay was because their bartender left during his shift, which is highly unprofessional. I politely requested multiple times to cancel the mocktail order due to the bartender’s absence, but the staff kept refusing, stating that once an order is placed, it cannot be canceled as the system is automated. Forcing a customer to accept an order after waiting for over an hour is an unethical practice, especially when the delay is entirely the restaurant's fault.
This café is absolutely not recommended. I honestly don’t understand how it has a 4.6-star rating with over 10,000 reviews. The experience was so disappointing that it makes me seriously question the authenticity of...
