It's cool and calm place, some watersport are available like horse ride. Kelwa Beach, also known as Kelva or Kelwe Beach, is a beach in Maharashtra, India. It is a popular weekend getaway for tourists from Mumbai. The beach is about 8 kilometres long. Although not a very famous tourist attraction, the beach is overcrowded with local tourists during weekends, which indicates its growing popularity. Kelwa Beach is situated about 80 kilometres north of Mumbai. It is easily accessible from the Kelve Road station situated about 5 kilometres away. It is also a 25-minute ride on an 8-seater rickshaw from Palghar. It is around 30 kilometers from the highway. Kelwa Beach is also connected by state transport buses which make frequent trips from Palghar or Saphale and Kelwa Road Station. he most important and traditional means of earning is the cultivation of "panmala" (bettle leaves). The community which cultivates the malas are popularly known as vadvals (person who cultivates vadis). The residents of Kelwa Beach are involved in the fishing industry due to the proximity to Satpati, Maharashtra's biggest fishing centre. Some people own or work in factories in the nearby industrial areas of Palghar and Tarapur. Some people have involved in the tourism industry due to the growing popularity of the beach. Many restaurants and snack joints have come up near the beach to cater to the growing number of tourists. The Shitla Devi Temple, a Hindu temple, is situated just beside the beach. It is believed that Prabhu Shri Ram came here and done worship of Lord Shiva. It is also believed that Prabhu Shri Ram prepared a pond with help of his arrow which called Ram Kund and still it is there. There are two forts on this beach. One is at the southern tip of the beach and is submerged in sea water during high tides. The smaller one is located within the coniferous trees near the northern tip...

One of the finnest Beach around Mumbai.

This is one of the cleanest beach near saphale, you would be amazed by the natural beauty of this place during any season, rains add a extreme charm to the road that leads to this beach from NH48.

It has 2 forts on its span , one is rather small and other interesting one in inside sea which you can reach by boats during high tides n on 2km walk during low tide, while visiting that on low tide will demand you to scale the fort walls on your own.It offers a lot of scope for photography lovers or those looking for a pre event photoshoot.

There are many amminities at this location , you have parking facility, properly maintained toilets for both ladies and gents , locker facility is also there but it's limited to 15-20 lockers only.

As it's streched along a long coast line even on holidays n weekends it don't feels crowded here, you can always find a peaceful place for yourself on this beach.

You can easily spend a day with your family at this beach, there are many rides motorised boats ,jetskis, camel ride , horse ride n ATVs. Plus a number of small refreshment shops along the entrance. There are also many resorts nearby this place some have their own swimming pools too.

Cutting short if you wan to runaway from the concrete jungle of Mumbai n wan to chill out for a day, this is the only place.

The road offers a good natural forest wala feeling till the beach n I bet you will enjoy your travel along this stretch.

Only sad thing is the litter that is created by the visitors who fail to collect their garbage n take along with them on dispose...

Kelva Beach is a beautiful beach located in the Palghar district of Maharashtra, India. It is a popular weekend getaway for people from Mumbai and other nearby cities. The beach is known for its clean sand, clear waters, and pine trees. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Things to do at Kelva Beach:

Swim in the clear waters Sunbathe on the clean sand Enjoy a picnic under the pine trees Go for a walk or run along the beach Visit the Kelva Fort Take a boat ride on the lake Visit the Shitladevi Temple

Things to keep in mind:

The market at beach is closed on Mondays. There are not many food options available on the beach itself. You can get good food outside the beach gate. The beach can get crowded on weekends. Be mindful of the tides and currents when swimming in the sea.

Overall, Kelva Beach is a beautiful and relaxing place to visit. It is a great option for a weekend getaway from Mumbai.

Here are some additional tips for your visit to Kelva Beach:

Arrive early in the morning or in the evening to avoid the crowds. Bring your own food and drinks, as the options on the beach are limited. Wear comfortable shoes, as the sand can be soft and uneven. Be prepared for the sun, as there is not much shade on the beach. However you can sit under a Pine trees Bring a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun.

It was an extempore trip. We started from Thane at around 2pm along the Ghodbunder Road. There was some traffic near the Fountain Hotel. The traffic was moderate onwards. The road condition is good. On the onward leg we chose the non toll road which was not so good but led us through villages. We reached there around 4.45 pm. There is an nominal entry fee of ₹5 per person. Also there is ample parking space to park. Charge for 4 wheeler is ₹20. Coming to the beach you can say it’s just a better than average beach. Can’t say it’s spotlessly clean. But clean enough. There are some stalls selling food and ice golas. There are life guards available and they have made a barricade sort of in the sea beyond which you are not supposed to venture. Near the beach there are quite a few food stalls selling vada pav and other local fare. Also the dried sea food is available like bombil etc which is quite cheap compared to Thane Mumbai. Also there is Sitala Mata temple there which you can visit. On the return leg we used to toll road because the non toll road would have been risky in the dark. There was some confusion in between as network was lost but we managed to get the correct route via Saphale. It’s a tad bit longer journey. At the Khaniwade Toll Plaza it took us long time for no apparent reason. There was little traffic again at Fountain Naka. All in all it was a good excursion.
