I recently visited Vandalore Zoo with my family, and it was an amazing experience. Located in Vandalore, this zoo is easily accessible by both bus and train, but I recommend taking the train as it's affordable, with fares ranging from just 5 rupees to a maximum of 20 rupees per person. Upon arrival, we found ample parking space for bikes and cars. The ticket prices were reasonable, with children aged 5 to 12 charged 50 rupees, while those below 5 entered for free. Adults and those over 12 had to pay 200 rupees. We appreciated the convenience of being able to pay via UPI or credit card.
Inside the zoo, we were delighted to discover a wide variety of animals and bird species. It truly was a comprehensive collection. We particularly enjoyed seeing some animals, like deer, roaming freely, as it added to the immersive experience. The zoo provided excellent facilities such as clean restrooms and drinking water stations throughout the premises. Additionally, there were plenty of shops offering snacks and food items, with the option to pay using UPI or credit cards.
We were pleased to learn that outside food and water were permitted, provided they were packed in eco-friendly containers. This gesture towards environmental sustainability was commendable. For those interested in exploring the zoo at their own pace, there were rental options available including cycles and electric cars.
Overall, our visit to Vandalore Zoo was a memorable one. We had a fantastic time exploring the diverse wildlife and enjoying the family-friendly amenities. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable day out with their loved ones. Every summer season is the best season to...
Read moreArignar Anna zoological park, well known as Vandalur zoo. It was a wonderful visit. Unimaginable area within the city of Chennai. Almost all the animals they kept inside the zoo were well maintained. The park is located at Grand southern trunk road, Vandalur, Chennai.
The zoo is usually closed on Tuesday, Wednesday to Monday the timing is 9 AM to 5 PM. Try to reach as early as possible to avoid waiting for an electric vehicle and safari bus. We visited on the weekend (Saturday), but it was so crowded, I can not imagine the crowd on Sunday. You will need at least 5-6 hrs to comfortably cover all the spots.
The best part is the place is well connected to other places, Just outside the park you will find the bust stop.
The entrance fee is 200rs per person, for kids below 5 years of age there is no entrance fee charged. The entrance is beautiful with a small waterfall. Thin plastic carry bags are not allowed, as people may throw them everywhere and may spoil nature. A good initiative.
A big area for car parking that too is charged 150 Rs. But a safe place where you can park your vehicle for the day and roam without worrying.
There are several restaurants inside, one is at the entrance itself. You will get snacks, tea, coffee, juices, ice creams. Better to carry the lunch with you as you can sit and enjoy the lunch anywhere inside, below the trees, a different kind of experience.
There is a Lion and Deer safari available, which is worth, charges are 150 Rs per person, and kids 50 Rs. For Lion and Deer safari you will be taken through an air-conditioned bus inside the areas where Lions and Deer are kept. It will be for almost 20-25 mins.
The zoo is very big as you will get exhausted while walking, so better to take cycles on rent. There are cycles available on an hourly basis. Or else you can book an electric vehicle, but the disadvantage of this vehicle is you will have to go in a group with other peoples and it will stop as per their convenience and for tickets also there will be big que, so early reaching is very important.
About animals, there are plenty of animals, birds, reptiles , insects etc. A variety of birds, parrots, peacocks, peahens, vultures and animals like monkeys, Giraffe, Zebra, Deer, Elephants, Rhinos, Hippopotamus, Tiger, white tiger, Cheetah, Bengal tiger, Bison, Bear, wild buffaloes, Lion. Reptiles like crocodiles and snakes are also there.A separate aquarium is also there, where a variety of fishes are kept, but the place inside is very dark.
Overall a great place to spend time with your kids and family in the wildlife and enjoy the...
