Review: A Serene Escape at Yercaud Botanical Garden

The Yercaud Botanical Garden is a tranquil haven for nature lovers and a must-visit attraction in the charming hill station of Yercaud. Nestled amidst lush greenery, this garden offers a delightful experience for visitors of all ages.

Spread across a scenic landscape, the garden showcases a stunning variety of flora. From vibrant flowering plants to rare orchids and medicinal herbs, every corner bursts with color and life. The well-maintained pathways and thoughtfully arranged plants make it easy to explore the garden while soaking in the serene atmosphere.

A highlight of the garden is its greenhouse, which houses exotic plant species and provides fascinating insights into their preservation. Another favorite is the succulent and cactus section, featuring unique plants that thrive in the region's climate. The manicured lawns and blooming flower beds provide excellent spots for photography or simply relaxing amidst nature.

What makes the Yercaud Botanical Garden special is the sense of peace it offers. It’s an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle, allowing visitors to connect with nature. Really small park used for research. Not maintained very well. However, there are all kinds of different and exotic plants. The specialties are insectivorous plants (Pitcher Plant) and a tree species indigenous to the region. Anyone interested in botany may find this place fascinating. I really do hope that they improve the infrastructure as the place needs cleaning and dire repairs. Also, I found it strange that there are no guides to book tickets online and I had a hard time doing so, and so I'll give a step-by-step instruction on how to book tickets.

1.Go to bharatkosh.gov.in and select quick payment option. From Ministry/Department select 079-ENVIRONMENT and FORESTS and from Purpose select Garden/Gate Entry Fee (BSI/ZI, Kolkata) and click Next. From Drawing/Imbursing Office select the first option. (It doesn't matter what you choose.) For Amount, select whatever applicable. (Rs.10 for 1 adult, free for children below 12 years. Eg. Amount is Rs.50 for 5 adults.) Click Add and click Next. Enter your personal details and click Next. Choose your preferred mode of payment (Card or NEFT or Net Banking) and click next. After the payment, it will take you to the Receipt page. Take a printout of the receipt as the security will not let you enter until you give him a copy. Give a like if you found this helpful. Have fun...

A wonderful spot to spend your time. It is located at walkable distance from the lake. Lots of plant varieties and flowers are maintained. There are well laid pathways to walk around. You have watch towers to view the beauty of Yercaud streets, coffee estates and gardens. This is less crowded but safe. Children's play area too is available. Has clean rest rooms. They have a seperate kiosk at the entrance to sell the chocolates manufactured by the government. Chocolates are rightly priced and are of good quality. There are two botanical gardens in Yercaud. This one is very near from the lake and is owned by state government, the other one is owned by the central government and is on the way to Nagalur and about 2.5 kms from the lake. Ornamental plants are grown and displayed in a seperate enclosure. Nice place...

While the Botanical Garden offers a vast space for a pleasant morning or evening stroll, it might feel a bit underwhelming if you visit during the off-season. The sheer size of the park makes it a great spot for exercise, but the lack of diverse flora or special exhibits during certain times of the year can make it seem like a normal park. It's highly probable that the best time to visit is during a specific season when the flowers are in bloom, which would transform the park into a vibrant and colorful spectacle. The availability of ample parking is a definite plus, making it convenient for visitors to drive in. Overall, it's a good place for a peaceful walk or a run, but it's advisable to check for the blooming season before you go to truly appreciate the garden's potential.
