Tamilnadu Tourism Beach Resort Private Beach — Attraction in Tamil Nadu

Excellent stay -Value for money We stayed in this resort for 3 nights in May 2023 and really enjoyed it. We are a senior couple and wanted a calm and quiet place to stay with beautiful surroundings. Earlier we had stayed in some other beach resorts in Mahabalipuram TTDC property is huge a beautiful private sea beach and lush green grass well maintained. Apart from the lawns, they have a sculpture park and lot of forest like places to wander around. The best part is all rooms have balcony or sit out facing the sea. The sea beach is just next to the rooms and you can go and sit on deck chairs or hammocks within a few yards from the sea. We had taken the deluxe AC room on the first floor, which has the advantage of the private balcony. We can in fact sit on the balcony and enjoy staring at the sea waves so close to us. I would recommend booking a deluxe AC double room and on the first floor. The deluxe room has better facilities and with an electric kettle with tea, coffee, milk and sugar sachets given every day. We checked in at 12 noon and though the check in time was 2.00 pm . they were kind enough to allot us the room, which was vacant. The check in process was fast and they took us with our luggage in an electric buggy to our room. The room was neat and clean, with fresh sheets and towels. They also give a dental kit and a shaving kit, along with shampoo, hair oil and talcum powder. The charges for the room includes breakfast and Dinner. For lunch we have to pay extra. As soon as we checked in we went for lunch. The buffet is vegetarian, and reasonably good. I could order a chicken 65 dish extra, which was brought to the table. After lunch we wandered about in lush green lawns, where a number of ducks were roaming around. Later I also saw some hens and a huge turkey pacing across. The place was full of trees and one could sit and enjoy. On the beach there were number of deck chairs and some hammocks, where we could sit and watch the lapping waves. The beach was kept clean with no rubbish thrown around. We noticed that there were many sweepers cleaning up the beach, the lawns and the road most of time. The whole place had a spruced-up look. Summary – The resort property is better than many 5 star resorts in Mahabalipuram. There is ample car parking place The rooms are not 5 star , but can be considered 3 star. Comfortable and clean. I am giving it 3 star because the fittings and furniture are not upto the mark. The food is average and not 5 star. I will start with the positives:

The service was simply outstanding.

We (family of four: 2 adults, 1 child, 1 baby) stayed here for 2 days. The staff were extremely cordial, very polite, empathising and kind to us (consistently).

We never expected such superb customer service, that too from a government stay (to be honest).

Our expectations were not only fulfilled but far exceeded.

Especially, the restaurant service person, A Bhaskaran, was super helpful in understanding the guests needs even before we asked for some help.

This was very pleasantly surprising. The receptionists were also smiling, helpful and polite to us especially Tamil.

Both breakfast and dinner are part of the room package and the food is really tasty (perfect south Indian cuisine mostly).

Their biggest plus point is the unbelievable ocean views and easy accessibility to the beach (just a stone's throw away from the sea facing rooms). Well, all of them are sea facing anyway :)

Now coming to the downsides:

Some of the double rooms, even though big in size, are pretty old and damp smelling (the bathrooms in the double rooms are very well maintained but the painting on the wall and ceiling were peeling away and the furniture was broken & crumbling).

Swimming pool timing could start from 6 AM instead of 7 AM and also they could extend the closing time to 6:30 PM instead of 5 PM.

While booking, it would make the guests booking experience much more effective if they could provide an option to first select the room types and then show the available dates for each room type rather than going through every single day to check the available rooms which is highly time consuming.

Overall, our 2 days of stay was so memorable that we will keep coming back again and again for sure. I am saying this because for such an affordable price, you cannot get all the aforementioned positives anywhere else along the ECR coast (if you can bear with/tolerate the downsides).

TTDC resort is owned by Government of Tamilnadu. But , location and maintenance was good. Though it was very old building, looks recently renovated during chess Olympiad & Modi Xi meet. Thatswhy interior of certain rooms are on par with private resort. First , we need to book room in TTDC official website only. Very simple & clear software to book and pay online. After that you will get confirmation email. That's enough. Package cost includes brekfast and dinner free. All rooms are facing sea view only. You can't get this types view in any of the ECR resorts. Beach is very clean and maintained well by TTDC staffs. Restaurant is average. Very large hall with decent table chairs. Breakfast and dinner offered as Veg buffet with South Indian dishes. Idly dosa upma vadai chutni sambar tea coffee. Dinner with chappathi, gravy rice sambar rasam curd varieties. Plates are clean and staffs are very helpful. Taste also good and no harm to our stomach. Swimming pool is well maintained and 3ft to 12ft water level available. Kids play area and beach side chairs are good and enjoyable. Car parking is available. Reception to room, battery car provided. Extra person above 10year is chargeable and 800rs have to be paid during check in. Floor based bed with pillow will be peovided.Check in 2pm, checkout 12pm. Good wifi connection available.
