Welcomcafe Riva — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

We stayed at WelcomHotel, Kences Palm beach for 2 nights.Their multi-cuisine restaurant, Cafe Riva is not the greatest. Their weekend buffets are disastrous. Poorly managed, average quality of food and selection of food items. The dishes themselves are not what they are called.

For eg. A kimchi salad is cabbage tossed in soya sauce. Soba noodles is apparently street side hakka noodles..and so on. Also, I dont mind paying 1750 per person, but this food? No.

Also, non vegetarians will be sorely dissapointed, especially with the buffets. The breakfast buffet had only sausages as a non veg item(obviously, excluding eggs). The dinner buffet had 2 non veg starters, 2 mains and 1 biryani(which is fine, except that they were below average)

The A La Carte is the only good point of this place. Not expected from a star property. Needs improvement. Staff(restaurant) are clueless. They...

Excellent wait staff. Good ambience. Food is okay though - paani puri was good, salads were bland, mutton biriyani was mild and flavorful, coriander rice and poriyal were good, shawarma was no bueno, grilled shrimp and chicken were great, Amritsari fish was good.

Good fresh juices.

Dish labels hadn’t been placed yet so we ate a bit blindly until the wait staff finally places them.

Desserts were all mango based.

We were there for a birthday and the strawberry cake they baked for us (separate order) was excellent.
