A very good lake in ooty hill station.
It has multiple boat rides such as pedal, row, and motor boats. The only problem is you have to be in specific number as in 4 people for pedal boats, 8 or 15 for motor boats.. If its less then not an issue if you are ready book the boat otherwise you have to find someone which is not much difficult.
Apart from it good views, adventurous rides, multiple options for kids rides, horse rides, and multiple eateries are also there.
7D horror show, and famous items you can purchase there including woolen clothes, niligiri tea packets, sweets, chocolates, souvenirs, etc.
There is also a mini train from Conoor to Ooty if you are look for ride which you can book from irctc.
A must visit place and don't forget to see botanical garden, tea and chocolate factory, doddabetta peak.
Take atleast 2-3 days to enjoy in completely
The view of Nilgiris hills from the lake was spellbound. The lake water was not so clean but the flora and fauna around it made it beautiful. I am not very much liking the ticket scheme. First you have to pay ₹10 to enter the boat house and then you have to pay ₹600 for the pedal boat ticket in which ₹300 will get refunded only if you reach the counter within 30 mins of the boat ride. Due to this thing tourists don't enjoy the boat ride fullest as they have to rush back and their mind is mostly on clock. ₹300 for 30 minutes where you only have to pedal to get the boat sail in the lake is not at all worthy.
Another drawback is that the washroom is outside of the boat house. If you have to use the washroom then you have to pay ₹10 once again to re enter. Even washrooms can be used after paying ₹5.
Navigating the tranquil waters of the lake provides a unique perspective of the Nilgiri Hills. The boat house premises are well-maintained, with ample seating areas and facilities for visitors. The surrounding gardens add to the charm, making it an ideal spot for both nature lovers and those seeking a peaceful retreat.
The boat house's staff is generally courteous and ensures the safety of the visitors. However, during peak seasons, long queues might test one's patience. It's advisable to plan the visit during off-peak hours for a more relaxed experience.
While the boat house itself is a highlight, the surrounding attractions, such as the Nilgiri Mountain Railway and nearby botanical gardens, complement the overall tourism experience in Ooty. The Ooty Boat House stands out as a must-visit destination, offering tranquility, scenic beauty, and a memorable boating experience.
For the adventurous souls, horse riding, archery, and gaming options add an exciting dimension to the visit. The variety of recreational activities caters to different interests, making it an ideal destination for families, friends, and solo travelers alike.
The inclusion of a horror house adds a thrilling twist to the experience, making it a unique offering among tourist destinations. The provision of a food court ensures that visitors can refuel and refresh, enhancing the convenience of the overall visit.
However, the requirement of a 450rs deposit might be a consideration for budget-conscious travelers. While it's essential to understand the terms and conditions, the deposit can be seen as a minor inconvenience compared to the multitude of entertainment options available.
Additionally, the presence of a cinema and toy train further broadens the scope of recreational activities, appealing to a diverse audience. It's commendable that the Ooty Boat House strives to offer an all-encompassing experience, ensuring there's something for everyone.
The Ooty Boat House stands out not only for its boating offerings but also for its diverse range of activities, making it a comprehensive and enjoyable destination. The deposit requirement is a minor consideration when weighed against the plethora of entertainment...
Read moreThe Tamil Nadu Boat House in Ooty is a popular attraction, offering a delightful experience for visitors looking to enjoy the scenic beauty of this hill station. Nestled amidst lush greenery and surrounded by serene waters, the boat house provides an excellent setting for a day of relaxation and recreation. Here’s a detailed review of the various aspects of the Tamil Nadu Boat House and its nearby attractions.
Boating Experience
Boating is undoubtedly the main attraction at the Tamil Nadu Boat House. The calm and clear waters of the lake provide a perfect setting for a peaceful boat ride. There are different types of boats available, including paddle boats, row boats, and motorboats, catering to various preferences and group sizes. The boating experience is enhanced by the beautiful natural surroundings, making it a relaxing activity for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. The staff managing the boats are courteous and ensure safety, making it a hassle-free experience.
Nearby Restaurants
The area around the boat house boasts several good restaurants, offering a variety of cuisines to suit different tastes. Whether you're in the mood for traditional South Indian food, North Indian delicacies, or international cuisine, you’ll find something to your liking. The quality of food is generally good, with fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. These dining options provide a perfect end to a day of boating, allowing visitors to enjoy a satisfying meal in a pleasant setting.
7D Cinema
One of the attractions near the boat house is the 7D cinema. While it promises an exciting multi-dimensional experience, it falls short of expectations. The quality of the graphics and the overall experience do not live up to the standards of what one might expect from a 7D cinema. Visitors have reported that the effects are not very immersive, and the content can be underwhelming. This is an area that could use significant improvement to provide better entertainment value.
Toy Train
Another nearby attraction is the toy train, which offers a charming ride around the lake. The toy train is a fun activity, especially for children and families. It provides a leisurely way to take in the views around the boat house. However, the train itself is quite basic, and the ride, while enjoyable, is not particularly thrilling or unique. It’s a pleasant activity but not something that would be the highlight of your visit.
Gaming Zone
The gaming zone near the Tamil Nadu Boat House offers a variety of arcade games and activities. It’s a decent place to spend some time, especially if you have children who enjoy video games and similar amusements. However, the gaming zone is fairly standard and doesn’t offer anything particularly exciting or out of the ordinary. The games and facilities are typical of what you would find in any other arcade, making it a routine addition rather than a standout feature.
In summary, the Tamil Nadu Boat House in Ooty is a great spot for enjoying the natural beauty of the area, particularly through its boating facilities. The nearby restaurants add to the experience with good food options, making it easy to spend an entire day in the vicinity. However, some of the other attractions, such as the 7D cinema and the toy train, do not fully meet expectations and could benefit from improvements. The gaming zone provides a standard but enjoyable diversion. Overall, the boat house remains a worthwhile destination, especially for those who appreciate serene landscapes and...
