Shri Thakurbari Temple, Gangtok — Attraction in Tibet Road Ward

The Thakurbari temple is located in the heart of Gangtok town in Sikkim. It's one of the oldest temples in Sikkim, built back in 1935. The temple houses almost all major deities and has become a key place for the Hindu community in Gangtok. It was constructed on land donated by Sir Thutop Namgyal, the former Maharaja of Sikkim. Inside, you'll find many idols and images of the major Gods and Goddesses of Hinduism. The temple is also known for organizing various festivals and social events on a grand scale.

One of the most stunning and intricately designed temples that I have ever visited. While walking down the MG Marg of Gangtok, I was suddenly attracted by the colours and size of this huge temple and hence I decided to pay a visit. At first I thought that the entrance was by the Pizza Hut side, but the actual entrance is towards the MG Marg road side. The main temple is upstairs.
