Kudiya Ghaat, situated on the banks of the Gomti River in Lucknow, is a serene and picturesque spot that holds historical significance and cultural charm. The name "Kudiya Ghaat" translates to "the steps of young girls," and it is said to have originated from the tradition of young girls gathering here to fetch water and engage in recreational activities. This waterfront area offers a tranquil ambiance, making it a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The gentle flow of the Gomti River, flanked by lush greenery and historic monuments, creates a soothing atmosphere perfect for relaxation and reflection. Visitors to Kudiya Ghaat can enjoy leisurely strolls along the riverbank, savoring the scenic views and capturing moments of serenity. The ghat is also an ideal spot for photography enthusiasts, who can capture the beauty of the river against the backdrop of the city's skyline. Additionally, Kudiya Ghaat holds cultural significance as a venue for various festivals and events, where traditional performances and rituals take place. During religious festivals such as Chhath Puja, the ghat becomes a hub of vibrant celebrations, echoing with devotional songs and prayers. For those seeking a tranquil escape from the bustling city life, Kudiya Ghaat offers a serene retreat where one can connect with nature, history, and culture amidst the timeless beauty of the Gomti River.

The park has nicely been reconstructed. Situated on the right bank downstream of the river Gomti, the place is believed to be a hermitage of sage Kaundilya, hence the name "Kudiya Ghat". The place is covered with dense shady trees and vegetation, and roaming among them is a pleasant experience. An added advantage is its vicinity of medieval heritage edifices like Roomi Gate and the clock tower. The backdrop of heritage structures gives a blend of old, medieval and modern times. The park is equipped with swings for children and fairly open space for them to play. However, poor upkeep may be a hindrance for piquinique lovers. There are no restrooms or washroom facilities in the area. The ailing thing is the pathetic condition of the gasping river Gomti. It is an eyesore to watch a river converted to a sewage drain, filled with silt and rotting aquatic vegetation. The general upkeep and cleanliness are completely ignored. Despite huge investments, the expenditure seems infructuous.

the Lucknow ghats are where one can choose to stroll around while inhaling the freshly churned air out of the flowing Gomti and picturesque views which are ought to calm the mind. One such ghat in Lucknow which has provided employment to the locals since ages now while pulling in the Bollywood fraternity to its banks, is Kudiya Ghat. As per claims, this ghat is named after Rishi Kaundilya, who had established his ashram in Lucknow near the riverbank, way back in the pages of history and the premises of the ghat was rebuilt in the year 1990. There is a dedicated space here, where you'll find hundreds of clothes hung out to dry by the dhobis, on a daily basis as this area is also known as the Dhobi Ghat of Lucknow. Source- knocksens.com

There is a dedicated space here, where you'll find hundreds of clothes hung out to dry by the dhobis, on a daily basis as this area is also known as the Dhobi Ghat of Lucknow. A major chunk of earnings garnered by the families living in the Dhobi Ghat locality, is sourced by washing chikan clothes before they go out in the market shelves.

Particularly during Kartik Purnima, Kudiya Ghat is frolicked by devotees who come here to take a dip in the river, although Gomti has no substantial religious significance. Tourists are usually found taking a boat ride on the streaming Gomti and various spots of the ghat, are used for innumerable purposes. While on your morning walk around this quarter, activities like self-defence classes, meditation, laundering and so on, are some of the common sights which would keep your eyes busy.

Kudiya Ghat has also increasingly become popular amidst photographers and filmmakers, who are often spotted here, for pre-wedding shoots and movie scenes. Bollywood films like Raid, Gulabo Sitabo, Pati Patni aur Woh, amidst others, have featured this ghat and even the recent OTT series, A Suitable Boy has glimpses of this...
