Very nice place... **Shaheed Smarak Lucknow Shaheed Smarak, one of the must visit monuments in Lucknow, is a tall monolithic structure which stands proudly against the lush gardens. Many people may not have heard of it, and lesser still may have visited it. Located on the banks of River Gomti, it possesses both historical and cultural importance. The Shaheed Smarak was built in the 1970's as a tribute to those soldiers who lost their lives in the freedom struggle, as well as to mark the First War of Independence in 1857 against the East India Company. It is a great place to spend a day out with your friends and family. After visiting and paying your respects at the memorial, you can also hang out at the gardens and enjoy some boating as well. The views of the sunset are also quite admirable, while the tranquility in the surrounding is something to look out for. **Architecture-- In terms of architecture, the Shaheed Smarak bears a close resemblance to the Amar Jawan Jyoti in Delhi. It is built of pure white marble which stands on a platform which has been carved using the same stone. There is also a pillar inside the monument complex which has the names of freedom fighters engraved on it.

Built in the 1970s by the Lucknow Development Authority, it stands as a tribute to the countless unsung heroes of India's first major uprising against British rule. The memorial's location near the historic British Residency underscores its connection to the city's pivotal role in the freedom struggle, particularly the contributions of figures like Begum Hazrat Mahal. Architecturally, the Shaheed Smarak bears a resemblance to Delhi's Amar Jawan Jyoti, featuring a tall, monolithic white marble pillar set upon a carved platform. It is situated amidst lush green lawns on the banks of the Gomti River, offering a serene and contemplative atmosphere. The design by architect Prasanna Kothari incorporates a central obelisk and a Wall of Martyrs with engraved names, creating a powerful symbol of national pride and patriotism. Beyond its commemorative role, the site also provides boating facilities on the river, making it a place for both solemn remembrance and...
