The temple is really good. Kerala structured Temple. But what I didn't like the Purohits ( priest) ask you to come , give you flowers & ask for money. You will meet 3/4 priest like this,in front of different deities. There's no demand , you can give 20/50 rupees to each also. But they shouldn't ask like this, right? Pardon me, Not sure if it's the rituals there, but honorarium should be part of individual person's wish, it should not mandatory. We bought two coupons (30 rs each) to buy Prasad, but from counter the guy gave us only one packet. I repeated, we gave 2 coupons, but the counter person gestures( may be he doesn't know English) that I should receive only one packet. ????? Why ?? But I must say, some of the priests are really really good & kind hearted, they explained us & cleared out all our questions. Overall, do visit this temple if you go Chennai, but keep in mind above things.

Swamyae Saranam Ayyappa! In the heart of the city (Mahalingapuram) Ayyappan temple is located well connected through rail and road too. Temple offers online vazhipaadu too. People can wear maalai here, full kattu nera (irumudi kattu) done here with Guru swamis. Everything for Sabarimala yathrai very much available here to get Ayyappan's blessings. Yathri's shelter, annadhana mandapam and many more facilities also located very nearby. This year 2020 due to pandemic devotees are very less in numbers. Temple authorities maintaining social distancing and mask, checking temperature and sanitizer for safety of everyone.

I have been visiting this temple since my childhood, and it holds a lot of sentimental value for me. I start my Sabarimala pilgrimage yatra from here, carrying my Irumudi . The Ayyappa Temple at Mahalingapuram gives a divine feel and is perfect for those who cannot travel to Kerala, as it resembles a traditional Kerala-style temple. It also houses Guruvayurappan, and all rituals and services to the deities are done very punctually and with great devotion. The temple is very peaceful, clean, and efficiently maintained, offering a truly powerful and spiritual experience.

Temple is good but holding priest for any clarification is a painful if u dont know malayalam. They hear in tamil but purposefully answer in malayalam. And wrt neeranjanam to navagragha its another pain. If u go in the evening at 6pm, they deny saying its pooja timing. Immediately after pooja, the priest go for tea beak from 630pm and return only at 715pm. If u go in the morning at 830am, none will be there for neeranjanam telling its breakfast time. Only the price list is in tamil and if...
