-2022- Good place to gdo, spending time to find peace (especially around low season). The area is wrapped around hills and mountains, giving ultimate chill situation. The lake is looking great as how it used to be, they are providing a lot photo spots nowadays, so you can go and enjoy taking pictures here. There's a lot of resting and hangout area, unfortunately when I come here they are in the middle of low season and currently in fasting month, so not all the hangout place are open. The caves that are located within the lake giving me ultimate peace (since no one are visiting), I can hear the sound of nature, it's cold and so calm. I walk around 5 minutes from Batu Tulis, take a leap and back to Batu tulis again. Over all this place is giving you chance to reconnect to nature very well (especially during...
Read moreAVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. If you're traveling with your friends/family using a car, you wil usually come from the 0 KM Monument, and you will approach this lake by passing a spot which they call retribution checking post (pos pengecekan retribusi). Here's the crazy thing, they will ask you to pay IDR 15,000 (FOR LOCAL) SO THAT THEY CAN LET YOU PASS THROUGH THAT DRIVEWAY. For foreigners, be ready to pay pay at least 8x higher than the local price. Will you be able to directly enter the Telaga Warna after paying that silly fee? Of course not, this is Indonesia and Indonesian love easy & dirty money without doing that much of work :) Once you arrive in front of the Telaga Warna gate, they will charge you again for IDR 22,000 for local and approximately IDR 160,000 to enter the area. If you don't trust me, it's your fault, I'm being honest here and I can objectively tell you that Candi Arjuna, Sidikang Crater and Menjer Lake are better places to visit. Listen to me, AVOID TELAGA WARNA, DIENG PARK, BATU RATAPAN AND THEIR SURROUNDING AREA AT ALL COSTS,...

If you are sensitive to the cold, wearing several layers of clothing is recommended as the Dieng Plateau is located above 2000 m above sea-level.
You would likely need to park in a seperate lot near stores and restaurants, a 3-minute walk to the lake. When I went there, I entered using a bundled pass giving access to three tourist attractions in the area, which is not too much more expensive than the single pass.
You will see a beautiful and unique green-colored lake, the color mainly caused by gaseous sulfur exiting from under the ground through the water in the lake. Due to the sulfuric deposits in the area, the air will also be filled by a strong smell which not many people may like. If you are part of this group, I suggest you wear a face mask, but you would need to wear a mask regardless due to...
