Diamond Beach, Nusa Penida: A Jewel of a Beach

Located on the picturesque island of Nusa Penida, Diamond Beach is a stunning stretch of white sand and crystal-clear waters that embodies the essence of a tropical paradise. As a traveler seeking a serene and breathtaking getaway, I had the pleasure of visiting Diamond Beach, and I'm excited to share my detailed review.

Ambiance: 5/5

As I stepped onto the beach, I was immediately struck by the tranquil ambiance that pervades the area. The soft, powdery sand felt like a warm hug beneath my feet, while the crystal-clear waters glistened in the sunlight, inviting me to take a refreshing dip. The surrounding landscape, dotted with lush greenery and towering palm trees, added to the beach's natural beauty, creating a sense of seclusion and tranquility.

Beach Quality: 5/5

Diamond Beach boasts an impressive stretch of pristine white sand, perfect for sunbathing, beachcombing, or simply relaxing. The sand is soft and clean, with no signs of litter or debris. The beach is well-maintained, with a designated area for sun loungers and umbrellas.

Water Quality: 5/5

The waters at Diamond Beach are nothing short of spectacular. The crystal-clear turquoise hue is perfect for snorkeling, swimming, or simply wading in the shallows. The water is calm and peaceful, making it an ideal spot for families with young children or those seeking a relaxing swim.

Accessibility: 4/5

While Diamond Beach is a relatively secluded spot, it's still accessible by car or scooter via a scenic road that winds its way through the island's lush countryside. However, the road can be steep and rocky in some areas, making it challenging for those with mobility issues.

Amenities: 3.5/5

While Diamond Beach is a relatively undeveloped spot, there are still some basic amenities available to enhance your experience. You'll find a few beachside warungs (small cafes) offering local snacks and refreshments. However, it's worth noting that the amenities are limited, and you may need to venture into the nearby town for more extensive shopping or dining options.

Tips and Insights:

Getting There: Diamond Beach is located on the island of Nusa Penida, which can be accessed by ferry from Sanur or Benoa Harbour in Bali. Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit Diamond Beach is during the dry season (May to September), when the weather is sunny and dry. Accommodation: There are several resorts and hotels in the nearby area, ranging from budget-friendly options to luxury villas. Activities: Diamond Beach offers a range of activities, including snorkeling, swimming, and beachcombing. You can also take a boat tour to explore the nearby islands and marine life.

Conclusion:

Diamond Beach, Nusa Penida, is a jewel of a beach that embodies the essence of a tropical paradise. With its stunning white sand, crystal-clear waters, and tranquil ambiance, this beach is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a relaxing and unforgettable experience. While the amenities may be limited, the natural beauty and serenity of Diamond Beach make it an ideal spot for those seeking a peaceful retreat.

Rating: 4.9/5

🚫 Tourists Beware: Unethical Practice at The Diamond Hills Zipline, Diamond Beach, Bali 🚫

If you’re planning a trip to Diamond Beach in Bali, please read this first — I don’t want any tourist to go through what I did.

On March 25, 2025, I went ziplining at a company called The Diamond Hills. I paid with my MasterCard. The staff tapped my card once and said the transaction failed. They tapped it again, and this time it worked — a receipt printed and I was given only one slip. I used the zipline only once.

When I returned to Thailand, I saw that I had been charged TWICE — a total of 1,500,000 IDR (750,000 IDR x 2) for a single activity. I filed a dispute with my credit card provider and submitted the receipt I received as proof. After nearly 2 months of investigation, they contacted this company. The company responded with two reprinted receipts and claimed I used the service twice, which is a complete lie.

Worse, when I tried to contact the company directly on May 5, 2025, this is the kind of ridiculous and suspicious response I got: • “I’m a new employee. The one who handled the tickets got fired. I don’t know anything.” • “You should just let it go… maybe it’s karma.” • “The fired staff disappeared. We can’t help you. Just let it go. 🙏”

They refused to give me an email, refused to give any management contact, and just kept saying, “Let it go.”

Let it go? After you took my money?

This is completely unprofessional, and frankly, it raises serious red flags that there may be an intentional scam targeting tourists — tapping your card twice and then denying all responsibility. And if things go wrong? They’ll just say “It’s karma” and ask you to move on.

⸻

⚠️ Here’s my advice to other travelers: • DO NOT use a card to pay here. • If you must, double-check your transactions, and demand the original printed receipt. • Screenshot everything. Keep your payment record. • If something seems off — trust your instinct and walk away.

This place might look fun, but behind the scenes is a mess of shady practices and zero accountability. You...

Diamond beach is one of the wonders of Nusa Penida. I visited here back in 2019, and again just last week. It changed a bit, but a lot can happen in 6 years. There is an entry fee of 100,000 rupiah per person to enter. It was pretty busy for a week day. Lots of people are typically lined up on the stairs down to the beach to get their instagram photos haha

The beach itself is beautiful. There’s a swing with some dress options in a nearby stall set up across from the swing that you can rent and the staff will push you out over the water and take photos for you. It is a paid service, 100,000 rupiah per person, and even more if you wanted to wear one of the dresses.

It’s a bit of a hike down some large rocky stairs that have been carved out of the side of the mountain to get to the beach, and the swing. If you’re not afraid of some waves, swimming here is worth it. The waters can get a bit rough though

If you pass the stairs to the beach and keep going, they’re working on building more structures outward including some kind of large carnival looking swing that seems like it will swing you in a full circle (very different from the swing down by the beach). If you follow along the hill and go down a slope rather than up the hill, you’ll come to the entrance of Atuh Beach on the other side of diamond beach. This beach is known to be a bit more calm and easier to swim in. It’s great for sun bathing and enjoying the water, as it doesn’t have a mountain towering over it, losing day light in the early afternoon like diamond beach does. It too, is a hike down some stairs though. If you make it to the bottom, you can rent a chair with an umbrella, or just lay out on the beach for free wherever there’s room.

Overall, beautiful views, beautiful experience,...
