Kapuas Square is the first urban park in Pontianak with a fairly wide landscape and is on the banks of the Kapuas river with a view of river traffic which is certainly very different if we merely look at city traffic which is already so dense in the volume of vehicles; indeed Pontianak cannot be juxtaposed with the big cities on the island of Java. This park has been equipped with fairly high speed and stable wifi access, but for a long time the facility has been removed with no known cause.
Water tourism is an attraction for many people to visit this park, there are 2 ways to enjoy water tourism, the first we can walk down a few kilometers along the river bank starting from the Kapuas square and generally will stop up in the Irian alley still one area on Tanjungpura road.
Second is spending some money to ride a water tour motor that has been designed in such a way where passengers sit on the deck of the ship and are invited to walk along the Kapuas river for only a few kilometers.
For those of you who are first time visiting Pontianak and may be curious to visit this park, you can take advantage of online transportation services that are already very easy to find in this city, this is because Pontianak does not yet have a convenient public transportation facility in the sense that it is not available and serves...
Read moreWe read glowing reviews about this place, so, we wanted to visit when we were on Pontianak. But sadly, this place looks so poorly maintained when we visited yesterday. Only few people were there. This place gave an impression of an abandoned park.
We came around 5 PM. We had our imagination about how our evening would be. So, we took Grab from our hotel. Initially, we planned to take the boat ride, while watching the sunset. But, sadly, no boat was seen around, neither any signs or anyone or anything that helped us to get more information. It was just a wide empty area. Plus, it was raining. So, idk, was it because of the rain, or just bad timing, but it was really not as we have imagined. So, we only stayed there for 10 minutes, then we left. We saw a big tourism bus was coming, but soon took off after the tour guide checked the place.
Hopefully this place will be improved someday, because we think it has a potential. The Kapuas river is big and it does look amazing, almost like Chaophraya river in Bangkok. Just needs a little more care and...
Read moreEven for the locals, this place right now is offering quite an exquisite view of the Kapuas river. The food streets having their markets at the edge of the river on the small boats. You can get on the bigger boats to have a 30 minutes cruise around Kapuas river way across the bridge and back. One person costs Rp 10.000 for each cruise. The environment is also way cleaner than it was previous years ago. Especially after the STQ event, the government has made this place more interesting with the 'Tanjak Monument' in the middle of the river, to be made as the place where the Qur'an reciter read the Qur'an and competed with other contestants. What a brilliant idea! Just having a stroll in the afternoon and evening. It can help to relax our mind...
