BEST UBUD ACTIVITY! I had an incredible 3 hour silver jewellery making lesson here. Kind teachers, beautiful property, amazing results!
Details: đ This Art and Workshop centre is about a 10 minute scooter ride from central Ubud. There are parking spaces for scooters on the opposite side of the road, and my scooter was perfectly safe for the three hours I was there đ You enter down a tiled side path into a picturesque, traditional Balinese homestead. There was a wood-carving workshop taking place in one area, with lots of people attending, and there were two tables set up for silver making. đ It was just me and one other solo traveller making our rings, so it felt like a private lesson! đ They provided cold water and two small cakes when I got there đ There were fans to keep cool, and the area you're working in is shaded so you can stay safe from the sun đ There are so many designs to choose from, touch, explore, and once you've found one you dive straight into adding a stamped message. TIP- make sure you get the letters the correct way round, especially the S which has a small curve and a big curve! Test it out first! đ I coiled metal, soldered things myself, placed on decoration, stamped the message, filed down and buffed/polished my ring myself. Lots of other workshops seem to do a lot of the work for you, but the teachers were so wonderful and supportive that they really let you do as much as you like here! đ When finished, they provided me with a certificate (so cute!) and a little ring box made of woven leaves to keep it safe. đ Toilets available
I am genuinely so impressed with my time here and I recommend this place to everyone if you're in Ubud.
Some things to note: âš Even despite the shade, fans and water, it does get hot so please make sure you stay hydrated! It also gets hold whilst soldering, so wear clothes you will feel comfortable in âš There are two dogs on site, which I LOVED but some people may wish to know this ahead of time âš The pathway to the property is quite narrow and the homestead has steps to both the wood working and the silver making areas. Be mindful of this if you're a wheelchair user or somebody who struggles with...
Read moreAbsolutely AMAZING! We felt so invited and welcomed by everyone here. We ended up making rings, doing a wood carving class, and batik painting. Weâre so glad we did all their classes. Because we did so many they also included lunch at a local restaurant nearby; very good food!!. The place is a collab amongst local artists like silver smithing, batik painting and wood carvers. They each were so excited to teach us their specific craft, all while we discussed their culture. Our absolute favorite part was being able to openly talk to them about Balinese culture and getting to know the locals and their ways a little better. Throughout the classes they also constantly gave us coffee and little local homemade desserts. Canât recommend enough, and itâs a great way to walk away with something to physically remember the experience...
Read moreWe loved this workshop. It was located near our villa that we rented and we had such a great time there, I made a silver ring that I wanted to buy for a long time, but I couldnât find it anywhere. I made it myself) And my children wonderfully carved figures out of wood and were very carried away by the process. It turned out really cool! We will fly home and will definitely decorate our house with them. This workshop will remain a very pleasant memory for us about Bali! Wonderful people work there and the hostess is incredibly beautiful and kind) By the way, the owner showed us a gorgeous coffee plantation nearby and we tried luwak coffee for the first time, it was a great experience and we are very grateful to him for that! I want to wish prosperity to this place and many, many...
