We visited Airtastic with our school this week and we were very underwhelmed with the whole experience.
The staff weren't in any way welcoming or friendly, they obviously don't know or aren't trained on how to interact with children. It was more like a jail than a fun park.
On arrival, leaders brought us in. The children weren't welcomed to the venue. They were immediately sent to a caged area to put their bags. They were then moved to another caged area for a lithium of rules & regulations. (Some necessary, some ridiculous).
1 hour was allowed in the Bounce Area. Children were repeatedly told to walk, not to run. (Fair enough if it's insurance related, but walking around a bounce area isn't much fun to a 9 year old).
We moved on to dinner at 11.30. Children were seated and served Chips, 2 goujons each and 2 small slices of pizza each. Teachers were not offered food, they asked instead. The children tidied the lunch area after them, it was left in a pristine state. This wasn't noted or mentioned by staff. (Maybe it didn't matter to them.)
On to our next and last activity, crazy golf. It took the children about 25/30 mins to complete... oh and if they potted the ball on the 18th hole, the ball was kept. (Some children started on the 17th hole due to crowding so had to go back up and ask for new balls after the 18th.) There were two schools down there for the majority of the time we were there.
After two rounds of dragged out golf, where both the teachers and the children had enough. We made our way downstairs to leave, however the door to the reception/cage area was shut.
We left ourselves out another locked door outside, with no thanks or goodbyes from staff members. No - thanks very much to the children, we hope ye had a nice time.. etc. (Maybe this isn't important to the owners or staff.)
I've been on approximately 20 school tours. This was the most disappointing one I've been on by far.
At €28.45 pp... was this value for money? I don't think so. We will be returning to tried & tested School Tour venues like Dunmore Adventure Centre or Let's...
Read moreWe went to the inflatable zone one day and we had a child (3 years 8 months) as he was under four he was only allowed in the toddler section. I had no issue with that until we went into the toddler section. It had one slide and a ball pit and an open entrance that led straight to the big part. My little boy had a great time at the start but then had enough of the two things in there and kept trying to get into the bigger part. We left before our hour was up. The toddler part should have a closed entrance part so the entrance to the main part isn’t accessible from there. Also a few more items in the toddler section is needed to keep older toddlers entertained.
We then went to the mini golf the following day. We had booked for 12 (it was cable to book online) & when we arrived we were given the putters and balls and told head away down. We got down there and there was a lady with two children (8-10 age ish) and they were playing the first hole. Once they finished they rounded the corner to start the second hole and we proceeded to play the first hole. When we finished it and rounded the corner I saw that the lady and two children were part of a birthday party of 10 children all together. We waited on each hole for the party only the holes at one stage there was 5 on it hole and it was chaos. Myself and my little boy ended up playing each hole 2/3 times to keep him occupied while we waited for the next hole to become free. After 8 holes we gave up and left. Why we were able to book the 12 time when a party of 10 kids and an adult were clearly out just before us baffled me. When I went back up to give the balls back and told the girl what was happening she just said oh sorry about that and walked off.
Overall it was a a very disappointing visit on both occasions. I will say it was predominantly due to my toddler and the suitability for him. Airtastic is a magnificent business and we will be back however it is not going family friendly as advertised. I would refrain from going there until your children...
Read moreWent today to the inflata area with a nearly 2 year old and a 4.5 year old boys.
Toddler area was a disaster. 2 year old bored in less than 10 mins, older one bored after about a minute. It may be cheaper but no way hour long tickets should be sold to this section. It also should be boxed off from rest of the play area to stop the bored kids leaving it to be admonished by patrolling staff. The website says that parents can enter if they “wish to supervise” but I fail to see how any child would stay in there. Spending time sending a child back into an area they are bored of is not anyone’s idea of a fun time.
Older lad was bored of other sections pretty quickly too. He may have lasted longer if I could play with him better. I am not sure on that as other kids were given out to for the crimes of running too fast and standing on top on the central conical shape, that ironically features on the website with 5 girls standing on it.
The bibs are way too big for the ages of children that have to wear them. My younger son had his slip down so his head and arm were out the hole for the head. Also had to buy 3 pairs of socks that were too big for the lads and were falling off and too small for me.
We left after 30 mins, could’ve easily gone after 20.
2 stars cause the girl at the desk was friendly and I can see how maybe 5-6 year olds might have fun here if allowed run.
Edit: Similar to other replies the points are missed/ignored. I had no desire to play with my 2 year old. My desire was that the area was interesting enough that I didn’t have to. There was nobody at the entrance making sure the toddlers were staying in the non-separated area so I am not sure if I wasn’t there to keep him in if he wouldn’t have been thrown out for breaking the rules in the safety video he...
