irish history walking tour of Cork port town.Kieran really brought history to life as we walked around the town. From pre famine times right up to the Civil War, we got a realistic account of what life was like for the inhabitants of Cobh...I told guide I am irish English..he is a nice guy...show me different. places ,ie where slave ships sailed, the differcult relationship with a big Empire..it was more like a tour of my life as a paddy living in England, ie I talked my confused mind ,feelings of mixed culture roots ....I bet you are equally confused about your irish/Americian /English identity...

A group of us recently did the Cobh Rebel Tour, and it was absolutely fantastic. The tour covered wider Irish history from the 1860s through the 1920s, while also sharing the unique stories and heritage of Cobh itself. Our guide, Kieran, was excellent—knowledgeable, engaging, and very approachable. He brought the history to life with great storytelling and was happy to answer all our questions. You could really tell he’s passionate about what he does. If you’re visiting Cobh and have an interest in Irish history, I’d highly recommend this tour! Thanks Kieran!

A must do if your in Cobh is the Cobh rebel walking tours. Easily the best tour I was ever on. Kieran McCarthy brings to life the history of Cobh with the passion he has for place. The details of the people involved in ambushes in every site. The hidden tunnels the places where Connelly Pearse and rebels stayed and all the history of Spike island and how the garrisons lived a brilliant tour. Go and see Spike island as well but hands down Kieran is an education don't miss his tour.

By far, the best historical tour I have ever went on. Kieran really brought history to life as we walked around the town. From pre famine times right up to the Civil War, we got a realistic account of what life was like for the inhabitants of Cobh. As opposed to a lot of museum tours that focus on facts, dates and key events, Kieran's tour includes what always seems to be missing at these places; the real, lived experience of ordinary people as events were unfolding. He can point to the houses where they lived and the streets where ambushes and reprisals took place, as he tells their stories which we would otherwise never hear. I would recommend this to anyone, it was an engaging and...

This tour is an absolute gem! Don't waste your time sitting on buses and standing in line. Instead, learn about some of Ireland's most interesting history from a fellow who is both a long-time local (served in local government for 25 years!) and spent time in the Irish Military. Kieran is an excellent guide. He is not only knowledgeable, but very personable and really works to bring the time period to life. Easily worth triple what Kieran charges! If you come in on a cruise ship, don't worry about battling crowds at Cork and/or Blarney Castle. Enjoy a beautiful seaside town that Kieran will really bring...
