By far, the best historical tour I have ever went on. Kieran really brought history to life as we walked around the town. From pre famine times right up to the Civil War, we got a realistic account of what life was like for the inhabitants of Cobh. As opposed to a lot of museum tours that focus on facts, dates and key events, Kieran's tour includes what always seems to be missing at these places; the real, lived experience of ordinary people as events were unfolding. He can point to the houses where they lived and the streets where ambushes and reprisals took place, as he tells their stories which we would otherwise never hear. Instead, learn about some of Ireland's most interesting history from a fellow who is both a long-time local (served in local government for 25 years!) and spent time in the Irish Military. Kieran is an excellent guide. He is not only knowledgeable, but very personable and really works to bring the time period to life. Easily worth triple what Kieran charges!
