This 1862 Victorian railway station was once much larger than it is today and busy servicing what was then Ireland's largest emigration port. It's the station where in 1912 many of the passengers destined to board the ill fated Titanic arrived. It's also famous for being the station from where hundreds of survivors of the 1915 RMS Lusitania disaster left Cobh after surviving its sinking.

Much reduced in size, today it's primarily used by locals to get to work and by tourists who arrive by cruise ship and want to catch a Cork/Middleton train to say Cork Kent Train Station some 30 minutes away or the Fota Train Station 20-25 minutes away and then to places like the Fota Wildlife Park or Belvilly Castle. The disused portions of the station are now used as the Cobh Heritage Centre.

The pretty houses on the steep hill behind the station makes a very pleasant backdrop as does St. Colman's Cathedral in the view towards the center of Cobh town. It's only a short (200 m) walk from the station to the town...

Cobh also known as Queenstown is situated about 30-35 minutes from Cork city train station. Only 5-10 minutes from For a Wild life park. Cobh is a small but interesting little coastal town full of Character and History. Trip to Spike Island once a military base, a Prison, now it is a Tourist attraction. There is Guided tours of the Titanic trail very interesting. Colman Cathedral is a must see fabulous old and historical building. With an amazing view of Cobh harbour and Cobh town itself. A great day to be had here. Especially around the Summer months when the biggest cruises dock and their passanger descend on Cork Cobh and the Ring of Kerry. Day out for all family...

Any train that leaves Cobh can take you to Rushbrooke, Carrigaloe, Fota Wildlife Park and Zoo, Glounthaune, Little Island and Cork City in the space of 25 minutes. The further a train from Cobh will ever go to is Mallow. Would make more sense for someone coming from Cobh to get off at Kent Train Station Cork City and change over there to travel up the country.

I have used this train station for work reasons several times and have never seen a member of staff present. Train station located right next to Cobh Port and is only a 3 minute walk at the most to the main strip...

Very convenient access to town from cruise berth. No cruise terminal. Trains to Cork located yards from ship berth regular service. Pleasant walk into main town centre and Cathedral. White star line info/ tourist centre en route. Wide choice of pubs and eateries. Well kept pavements taxis available from dock gates. Boat trips available. Floral planting and bench seats spread around. Not to much traffic. Pretty pastel colored painted properties. Not many high rise buildings. Public toilets available.

We visited Cobn following the recommendation from a nice attendant from a place we visited earlier. This small town has a very nice atmosphere and its buildings are much better kept than in Cork. Interestingly, Cobn (Queensmary, at the time) was the very last port of call of the Titanic. Access via the cheap and clean train is fast and convenient, without the hassle of driving there. It is a perfect getaway from the surprisingly busy Cork.
