Stayed here as part of EF TOUR package. It is university dormitory housing. It NEEDS to remain dormitory housing. The rooms were single with ensuite. But the shower was basically on top of the toilet. As a "hotel" for guests, especially for Americans, it was tragic. You are provided a twin bed, with a bottom sheet and duvet cover only. No top sheet, mattress cover, or blanket. And 1 pitiful excuse for a pillow. You are given 1 towel and 1 hand towel. No floor mat to prevent slips after showering. Due to the bathroom being basically a wet bath, the drain runs slow and the entire bathroom floor get wet. I used my hand towel as a floor mat, but then was reduced to walking on a cold, wet towel for the rest of the day. Patrons need to be provided instructions on use of amenities: heat, lights, etc. All of this being said, Maynooth needs to reevaluate their ability to host as a hotel. In my room alone, the room shade chain was broken, so I had to climb on a chair to raise and lower my window shade. My main light fixture was out, necessaritating my climbing on the chair to allow light in the room. The hot/cold adjustment in the shower didn't work, thankfully it was stuck in the hot water position. The "staff" were unhelpful, only stating that there was no housekeeping staff available were inquiry was made for additional blankets or covers. They also did not provide guidance on use of heating system. Thus, I froze. We were feed in student housing and given a hot meal, as well as continental. Overall, Maynooth needs to remain open as STUDENT housing only. They are not capable of providing a hotel type environment...
Read moreReally enjoyed being here, Its an amazing campus, our group was here for about two hours and that wasn't long enough to see and hear about all of it, however the sample was good enough to reflect the rating, we where invited as part of the communiversity program and got to see some of the facilities available and meet some of the staff involved in the program, a lot feels very modern as the grounds have been developed a lot recently and still developing to accommodate more. The staff we got to meet have a real drive for recruiting, (hope to return to study here soon) they are friendly and informative and make it clear that every effort is made to supply all students with the supports needed to complete there giving courses from finances, general, mental health and transport, if it's a grant required or a personal issue they are there, almost felt challenged to come up with an excuse not to come back for some education, was the impression left, the places we seen were immaculate, it was an exam day so not a lot of activity on the part of the grounds we attended aside from the library which was a buzz of activity (as much of a 'buzz' as a library can be, I guess ;) I could have spent the 2 hours just here) and I could go on more about the grounds as well and amazing trees, if you ever have an opportunity to visit take it or go out of your way to, you won't be...
Read moreFirst I have to say ,that the area is very beautiful ,with fantastic old trees and flowers ,You will mostly enjoy staying there if you are very religious ,because everything is about religion ! But don´t fall for their cheap rooms ,even the pictures look great on the booking page ,because that has absolutely nothing to do with the room you get ! I am handicapped with a lame leg ,but i got a room on 3th floor without an elevator and the woman in the reception would not change that ,first after I complained after 3 falls on the step ,there was a nice young man ,there gave me a room with an elevator ,but the extra pains I got from falling had already destroyed my stay ! The rooms is worn out and not cleaned properly ,I got clean bedclothes after 9 days ! I have a lot of pictures there show how bad the room was , but I keep them so far , there was a lot of young people there and a drunk couple there was very noisy and there was a big motor thing just outside my window there was running 24 hours a day ,so you had to close the window if you wanted to sleep and then you was melting in the heat ! for me the stay there was a 18 days nightmare ,still have a lot of pain from the falls ,but they...
