Na Starym Mieście zachowało się kilka zabytkowych karawanserajów, w których niegdyś zatrzymywały się karawany kupieckie. Jednym z nich jest położony przy porcie pochodzący z 1785 Khan Al-Umdan.

Wunderbare Karavanserei - vor Jahren konnte man wenigstens noch in den Hof schauen. Die Sanierung lässt weiter auf sich warten, dabei ist vom Umbau zum Hotel bis zum Umbau zu einem Museum alles im Gespräch. Das Gespräch dauert nach meiner Erfahrung nun schon seit mehr als einem Jahrzehnt an. Ich hoffe, dass dieses schöne Gebäude erhalten wird.

Wunderbare Karavanserei - vor Jahren konnte man wenigstens noch in den Hof schauen. Die Sanierung lässt weiter auf sich warten, dabei ist vom Umbau zum Hotel bis zum Umbau zu einem Museum alles im Gespräch. Das Gespräch dauert nach meiner Erfahrung nun schon seit mehr als einem Jahrzehnt an. Ich hoffe, dass dieses schöne Gebäude erhalten wird.

חאן אל עומדאן, או חאן העמודים בתרגום מערבית, נמצא בצמוד לנמל עכו ומספק נקודת צפייה מיוחדת במינה על מגדל השעון. הוא נחשב לחאן הגדול ביותר בישראל והשמור מבין כולם. החאן הוקם בשנת 1784, בתקופת שלטונו של אחמד אל ג'זאר, השליט הגדול שהקים בעכו לא מעט מבנים ציבוריים בתקופה העות'מאנית.

במקום שכן לפני הקמת החאן בית המכס של השלטון הצלבני. כאשר החליט אל ג'זאר להקים כאן את החאן הוא שם דגש אישי ומיוחד על תכנונו. החאן כולל שתי קומות שבמרכזן חצר. הקומות בנויות מאכסדרות בעלות 40 עמודים שהובאו לכאן מקיסריה ועשויים מאבני גרניט.

מעבר לאכסדרות, שהן למעשה מרפסות הליכה, חדרים שונים, כאשר בקומה הראשונה הוקדשו החדרים לפעילות מסחרית ועסקית ואילו בקומה השנייה פעל בית הארחה שאירח סוחרים ועוברי אורח שהגיעו לעכו. במרכז החאן חצר גדולה.

אל החאן הגיעו נכבדים מכל רחבי ארץ ישראל ומהארצות השכנות שניהלו כאן עסקאות מסחר והביאו לכאן סחורות רבות. העובדה שהחאן שכן בסמוך לנמל עכו הפכה אותו לפופולרי מאד. במאה ה-19, אז הפך נמל עכו לנמל השני בחשיבותו בארץ, לצד נמל חיפה החדש, הפך החאן למקום אחסון לסחורות. בשנת 1868 קיבל את החאן הבהא אללה, ראש הדת הבהאית ובהמשך פעל בו בית ספר של הקהילה הבהאית בחיפה.

בחאן מתקיימים מדי פעם מופעים מוזיקלים ותיאטרלים, בין היתר במסגרת פסטיבל עכו לתיאטרון אחר. במהלך השנים ניסו גורמים רבים לשמר את החאן אך הוא נחשב למוזנח יחסית. בשנים האחרונות הוחלט כי החאן, יחד עם חאן א-שונה הסמוך, יועבר ליזמים לבניית מלון בוטיק.

5 stars, yes, but it is closed, still closed for renovation, can't wait for it to reopen. It's already been more than 2 years I've been waiting for it to be reopened. Let's hope 2023 will be the year. And then it will be stunning. I've been there several times in the past when it was opened and it was already very special. The waiting will...

تم بناء البرج في عام 1906 بجوار المدخل الرئيسي لخان المعمدان الذي بناه "أحمد باشا الجـزار" في نهاية القرن الثامن عشر. في عام 2001 قامت سلطات الاحـتلال باستبدال ساعاته الأربعة بساعات أخرى، وصممت إحداها باللغة العبـرية ضمن حملتها لتهـويد المكان.

أقيم برج الساعة في البلدة القديمة لمدينة عكا، على مبنى خان العمدان في عام 1901. وقد أدرجت اليونسكو عكا القديمة في عام 2001 كموقع ثقافي في قائمة مواقع التراث العالمي.

أقام أحمد باشا الجزار خان العمدان سنة 1784 في مدينة عكا، وهو مبنى مربع الشكل من طابقين يرتكز على أعمدة من الغرانيت جلبها الجزار من قيسارية.

جاء بناء البرج من طابق أرضي وأربعة طوابق للبرج من حجر الكاركار. وفي الطابق الثالث الأطول والأكثر زخرفة في البرج، تقع في كل جهة ساعة، وفوق كل ساعة الرمز العثماني: الهلال والنجم. وبرج خان العمدان في عكا هو من أبراج الساعات الشهيرة في العالم. وقد تم استبدال ساعات البرج في عام2001...
