Humus Said is located in the market at the old city of Acre. Both are a must if you come around this region of the world. Humus Said, specifically, is considered one of the best hummus places in the middle-east.

aid itself is a tall and impressive character, loved by everybody. He’s making hummus for 35 years now, and his business today includes also a bakery (for the pitas) and an olive press, making the most exquisite olive oil.

Humus Said has a relatively large inner space, flooded with sunshine coming from the large windows. There’s always a line of people at it’s front door, though, waiting to eat the hummus which many people claim to be the best in all the middle-east.

There’s also the Mahluta, a delicious dish of cooked and spiced ful (broad-beans); and the Mashawsha, which is similar to hummus in it’s ingredients but has a different texture.

The portions are very large, and if your not satiated you’ll get a refill with a big smile. This place, though being very simple, gives a feeling of generosity and profusion.

If you come around this region of the world, Acre/Akko and Humus Said are well worth a visit. Don’t miss the beautiful old...

Another exceptionally worn artifact, this time a napkin dispenser, layered with a thick resin of greasy fingerprints from satisfied customers that were holding a hummus drenched hunk of bread with one hand and trying to wrestle a napkin out of this ancient dispenser with the other. The experienced staff, obviously aware of the streaked steel surface, were too busy to intervene as the orders kept piling up and there’s only so many hours in a day. Perhaps, like me, they understand the beauty of use, they display this dispenser with pride, for only an eatery capable of handing such a volume of clients can display, with pride, such a priceless object that could never be replicated in any...

Not the best hummus by any standard. I’ve had better hummus at countless other restaurants. Also, the pita was not good at all. I went here because it was highly recommended as having the best hummus in Akko, but I was not impressed at all. I’ve made better hummus at home. The consistency was not purred enough, then they add whole chick peas to make it even chunkier. Plus the hummus was served swimming in a soup of olive oil that had no flavor. Too little salt and too little lemon juice left me feeling as though I was just scooping a bowl of half mashed chick peas.

On the positive side, the service was fast and very kind. Also, the hummus was super cheap at 16₪, so I guess I got...

Ok. Let’s start by saying the Chummus was good. And the service was excellent. We were welcomed in and greeted with smiles as if we were old time customers. This was said to be the best Chummus in Israel. And while it was great, I can’t say that it was the best. But that might really be a matter of taste for different people. What did disappoint me were the pitot. They were plain industrial pitot. Fresh. But rather plain. The kind you buy in a supermarket not a bakery. I think the experience would have been better if the pitot were better. Chummus is enhanced by the delivery mechanism. Having said all that, I think it was a great experience and I highly recommend a visit when in Akko.

As you probably know, this is a very hyped hummus spot. It’s reputation may lead you to believe that you’ll be dipping fresh (cold) pita in life-changing silky hummus, but it is very standard. If you’re looking for toppings, there are plenty of spots nearby that will paint your hummus with the colors of the rainbow, or you could try the mashawsha for a bit more flavor. If there’s a voice in your head saying you MUST eat here while you’re in Akko, just walk by and see what you think. You will see many locals enjoying some of their favorite hummus, and some tourists who don’t know what all the fuss is about too.

Very Good Hummus, one of the best actually.. Still, I prefer Hummus Shamsia which is only a few steps from this one, if you go on walking toward the port on the same street, adjacent to the pastries shop. The service was fair, no more, not friendly nor hostile. Didn't have an "authentic", "original", "local" experience and I wasn't there for that. I was there for the Hummus and I have received what I wanted, a very good Hummus!
