Museo di Palazzo Taglieschi — Attraction in Anghiari

This would be a nice museum, however the staff hovers over you as if waiting for you to break or touch something. Our family went through - my husband and four children ages 13 to 22. My 22 year old son ( an honors history major - who studied a year in Viterbo) was told he was not allowed to go ahead of us and had to stay with us. My son has been in museums all over Italy much larger and grander than this museum and was never treated this rudely. It was ridiculous. I have previously lived in Italy and have visited dozens of museums throughout the peninsula; this was by far the worst Italian museum experience I have ever had. Better artifacts can be viewed in any antique Italian church for free, and the cold, unwelcoming, and condescending staff seem to try their best to destroy whatever atmospheric charm this small, bush-league exhibition could possess. Simbolo rinascimentale, Palazzo Taglieschi è l'adeguamento di palazzi e case-torri più antichi, infatti nell'angolo tra piazza Mameli e via Garibaldi è intuibile la presenza di uno dei precedenti edifici. L'ingresso principale del palazzo è il cinquecentesco portale con lo stemma Taglieschi e l'edificio rappresenta il simbolo del borghetto proprio per la sua immagine arcitettonica rinascimentale. Palazzo Taglieschi è la sede del museo di arte figurativa di Anghiari e vale la pena visitarlo: raccoglie pezzi che partono dalla preistoria fino al XVIII secolo, con frammenti scultorei e affreschi, al piano terra, che narrano alcuni aspetti della sotria della Valtiberina e, al primo piano, con sculture lignee e robbiane (importantissima la Madonna col Bambino di Jacopo della Quercia del 1420, opera straordinaria per qualità e il quasi perfetto stato di conservazione). All'ultimo piano è conservata una raccolta di armi e dipinti risalenti al '500 e '600.
