Very helpful staff, although somewhat difficult to track the explanation for each specific work in the online guide (numbering would have been better). The art that is currently displayed is, well, controversial to say the least. Contemporary art is usually hit or miss but here I couldn't even find a single piece that I connected to or barely even appreciated. Very long explanations for very abstract works, not remotely aesthetic or technically intriguing, abstract to the point where I question the point of it all. Why not just putting the explanation on the wall, omitting the artwork altogether? It would have the same effect on the viewer. Maybe I'm completely missing the point, but I think art must have at least some aesthetic/structural/sensory justification. Some of the works I saw in the reviews attracted me to come here, unfortunately most of them were not...

Firstly, I must admit that I’m not a great art connoisseur, so contemporary art is a bit hit or miss in my case.

What I did certainly enjoy was the minimalistic interior, greatly helping to appreciate the different art works. Some works were great! What was lacking in my opinion was more explanations in English to each work. There was some additional information available, but they were not translated into English, sometimes the title wasn’t even translated, which makes it quite difficult to connect and appreciate the work fully.

Prices are 7€ regular, 5€ reduced. We went on a weekend, no queue. There quite some open exhibitions in old town in cooperation with the GAMeC that you can visit. If you do, you get a flyer that allows you to enter the GAMeC at the reduced price (like we did :))

We finished this place in 20 minutes - could have been 2 minutes less if we had not decided to avoid a strangely behaving attendant with a sloppy appearance. We visit a lot of modern art museums - one of us actually works for one - but here was nothing to see, apart from 2 mildly interesting video installations. Also, we did not like the way the title/artist information of the paintings was presented. It was impossible to link the right title plate to a painting. I may be willing to give a painting a second look if I know the painter, but I am not willing to spend a few minutes...

Greatest experience at GAMeC if you love modern or contemporary art. Beautiful spaces and excellent collection. Loved Cattelan and Kandinsky artworks. It's nice that the space is share over the summer with children from primary school to join as a sort of summer camp. It's not just a museum. It's a space for the local community and those coming from abroad (English, German, etc.) A+ Recommend a visit

A must-see if you are on a cultural trip to Bergamo. They promote artist from Bergamo, emerging artists from Italy but initiate also collaborations with well-known international artists (we were surprised to find a collection including De Chirico, Morandi, Scanavino, Dorazio etc) . We really enjoyed the exhibition on the city’s response to Covid-19. Free entrance! We will be back soon
