Where do I begin...

My hubby, pup, and I got back home from exploring the Piemonte region a day go, and I felt one of the first things I needed to do, in addition to the laundry, was to write a review for Contratto Winery.

One of the main reasons why I am giving Contratto Winery a 5 stars is because of our guided tour by Simone who was... AMAZZZING!!! Even though he is only 2 months into his new role... not only was he easy to talk to, had a good sense of humour (took my ridiculousness in stride and did not roll his eyes at me), took his time explaining everything and answering all our questions, but, unlike some of the reviews, gave quite generous pours and an extra bonus drink - i.e., my hubby and I discovered we really, really, really like vermouth. In short, it was a real pleasure to meet him...

As part of the tasting, they gave us some yummy salumi, cheese, but, the "ciliegina sulla torta" was the... Michelin starred bread sticks! I am not a huge fan of Italian bread / bread sticks and always felt bad at how much I would leave on the table when eating out, but, OMG, these bread sticks were buttery, not stale, etc.

The Contratto Winery's cellar and "cathedral" was quite extensive and impressive, and I actually learned a lot about how wine is produced even though this was my upteenth winery / vineyard tour.

Last but not least, I am always biased towards places and people who are not only pet friendly, but treat my baby like... my baby. Our pup is now an Alta Lange expert.

I highly recommend visiting Contrattro Winery and getting a tour from Simone if your are in the Piemonte region - no ifs, ands, or...

Had a great experience here (even as a bit as per below), with a great tour down the cellar and also a nice wine tasting with mr Rivetti saying hi to us.

With that said, mr Rivetti (and others) had some sort of lecture while we had our tasting in a room without doors next to the big room where the lecture was held so we were asked to keep quite more or less which was odd as we (a group of 8 total) were the paying party.

The group (and the host - who’s name I forgot) had all good fun anyways but the tasting as such was naturally concluded earlier as we were barely allowed to speak…which was unfortunate and somewhat oddly sad planned...
