Lo Skipper Beach club — Attraction in Castiglione della Pescaia

Good times at Skipper are over. We felt very unwelcome and bad service. We used to know this place as a comfortable beach place to enjoy drinks and food with good friendly service, but yesterdays visit was one of our worst experience.

My wife arrived first at the Beach Club with our child in a wheelchair. She passed several waiters, but nobody there to assist. So she chooses front row seats with 2 lounges. As I arrived, also no one greeting. The first waiter, which we saw cleaning and repairing tents before, came to our table, dressed in a sloppy shirt and pants. Without any welcoming words he told us that seats and lounges are normally 30€ per day extra, but at this time (4pm) 20€. But we can sit further in the back, so that cost nothing. Assuming we can’t or wont pay for that? Another waiter came from the other side and confirmed him, that the place cost 20€. Is that the most important thing here? We said, that we understood and it is fine. Just then we received the menu and ordered drinks and some small food. Still no smile or friendly gesture. Drinks arrived with the words: it’s 50 Euro. ??? First of all we are used to pay at the end and also not even the food was served and they asked to pay the bill. We said we pay later. The waiter left, passed his colleague in sloppy wear, again working and cleaning at other tent, told him something and they were both laughing.

10 minutes later more guests arrived at the 2 cabanas next to us. We watched how they got treated … well not the friendliest service but they just receive the menu directly, no mention about the 20€ for the place. Drinks came for them and we saw that they only paid for drinks. So I called the sloppy waiter, who is repairing stuff and serving at the same time, not cleaning his hands, and we ask him why we pay 20€ and they don’t pay it. He seems a bit puzzled and stuttered that they came now later and it has not to be paid. We said that this is not correct and we will not pay the 20€. The guy left to another person working at a tent, which we later found out it was the owner. They have a discussion, the boss was watching us, but never had the balls to come over. So the waiter just came over and scratched the 20€ from our bill. Now the funny finish, for the payment we had to go inside the restaurant, the boss was doing the bills, I gave him our receipt and he billed again 50€. I said No it’s only 30€. He wondered and talk to his colleague next to him in Italian language pretending he dont know about it and why is that. Finally I just dropped 30€ on the counter and we left this place … and will surely never come back to this management...

Very friendly staff!!! Very professional bar!! All cocktails and long drinks of the finest quality can be mixed here!! They offer free snacks at the bar!! They serve all kinds of wine and top notch champagne! This is the perfect place to spend an evening with friends. Inside and outside the lights are beautiful, they have lots of space on their terrace with seaview. They offer various tees with cookies! They offer free WiFi and they even provide external batteries to charge the phone while sitting at the table!! They play pop music and they have a television without sound to watch football. Fantastic service! They also sell chewing gum and shirts! Definitely a place to recommend and come...

I'm used to enjoying a leisurely lunch .However , for our party of 5 the service was extremely slow this past Friday . 20 minutes after completing our antipasti , I asked our waitress for the primi , she never returned to our table. She was still present but 2 waiters took over . Afer we finished , I asked for our bill / check even giving him 5 Euros to speed up th process ! After 15 minutes I went to the cashier inside to settle up as he never returned with the check . That was our third visit to Skipper's and will be our last.
