Ristorante sopra lo Skipper — Restaurant in Castiglione della Pescaia

Lovely location, overlooking the beach. It is a beautiful room, surrounded by glass on three sides, giving a wonderful view of the coastline. The service is friendly and relatively fast; the food is sometimes excellent, sometimes less so. We have been several times. This time I was underwhelmed for a few reasons. Our sparkling wine was not opened at the table - and I'm not entirely sure we got what we paid for - and arrived far too warm (although they did bring a cooler) and took a good 20 minutes to chill to a decent temperature for drinking. I really think a relatively upmarket restaurant should open wine at the table. Our first course of three types of fish tartare was excellent, but the second course of tuna steak was grim; it tasted bitter and tough. I took two mouthfuls and left the rest. No-one asked us if everything was all right, despite doing so to the tables around us. My almost full plate was whisked away without even a comment. Lastly, in common with many restaurants in the area, there is no fresh fruit or sorbets to finish. As it was still around 30 degrees when we left, you can see why something light and/or cold would have been appreciated. Lastly, someone had made a hash of cleaning the glass panels which looked absolutely awful (luckily they were folded shut). Haven't they heard of Karcher...

Nice seafood - although I personally found it lacking of some spark - but the place itself is extremely loud due to the dj spinning at the bar downstairs: think of a club blasting music at 2 am… you got it. Much of the fancy restaurant potential (location and view of the sea, professionally trained staff, fresh seafood…) gets spoiled this way. Una location stupenda che ti colpisce e ti invoglia ad entrarci. Fino al momento dell’ordine eravamo entusiasti , ma una volta arrivati gli antipasti siamo rimasti sconcertati . Un crudo di pesce visibilmente gelo e non fresco,che a detta di esperti del settore,non puoi assolutamente permetterti in un posto del genere vista mare. Vellutata di ceci con gamberi al vapore era praticamente un passato(male) di ceci con 3 gamberetti sgusciati che galleggiavano. Spaghetti alle vongole nulla da dire.Fritto misto con la sorpresa di cipolle fritte palesemente gelo anche questo. Grigliata mista con parti di pesce serviti a metà e di bassissimo livello. Pizze sembravano essere state la scelta migliore e invece ?! Finito di mangiare vomito e dissenteria.probabilmente i würstel erano rancidi,piuttosto che dire di sì sull’avere certi prodotti ,è meglio dire di no visto che avariati.
