Monastery of Sant'Antonio in Polesine — Attraction in Ferrara

I was there on September 16th 2019. My friend and I were there to listen to the nuns singing. By the way, incredibly beautiful. Anyway, I was looking around at the statuary and the frescos. I looked up to the right at the statue of David and the lips were moving as if singing with the nuns. I thought it was the lighting. So, I turned to my friend and asked her to look at the statue and tell me what she saw. In total astonishment she said that the lips were moving! I have a video. I don't know why we did not ask the nun giving the tour, I guess we did not want to alarm her. But, my question would be, has anyone else had this experience there? Admission not straightforward.. Strictly limited hours. Important to respect that it is a working monastery. Entrance to area for frescoes is to the the right of the church. RIng the bell. We parked by the city walls and walked the short distance. Beautiful frescoes from the school of Giotto with explanation in Italian from a lovely, elderly, gentle nun. È stata un' esperienza sorprendentemente intensa. Il monastero, a cui si arriva percorrendo tranquille e strette vie della città, apre solo due volte al giorno, per due ore, essendo la casa di dodici monache di clausura. Già questo connota la visita di esclusività. Poi non apre nemmeno davvero, dato che ho dovuto citofonare a una porta chiusa. Ma questo non ha fatto che conferire maggiore autenticità al luogo. La visita, gestita da una esperta e documentata volontaria, dall' evidente passione per l' argomento della religione, accresce questa sensazione. Accanto alla tomba di Beatrice d'Este, luogo in cui si compirebbe un prodigio in alcuni mesi dell' anno (no spoiler), si dipana un corridoio risalente al secolo tredicesimo, e mai restaurato, che ovviamente non si può percorrere, dato che conduce al cuore del monastero. Si penetra, poi, nella chiesa interna, luogo di solito off limits, ma nel quale risiede il patrimonio artistico del luogo. Affreschi meravigliosi, principalmente di Giotto, che , seppur in parte rovinati da tempo e intemperie, ripercorrono mirabilmente la vita di Cristo.
