Frugone Collection — Attraction in Genoa

The collection is part of what has been gathered in a lifetime by two wealthy local brothers located in a beautiful late 17th century villa, the exterior is typical of the remodelled villas in this part of the world, sadly there's little left of the interior bar the main staircase and a few stuccos here and there. Dal 1993 il museo ha sede a Nervi, nella settecentesca villa Grimaldi Fassio, acquistata dal Comune di Genova nel 1979. Le importanti collezioni di arte otto-novecentesca dei fratelli Frugone comprendono dipinti, sculture e disegni di artisti italiani e stranieri attivi tra la seconda metà dell’Ottocento e il primo Novecento. Tra gli artisti rappresentati Bistolfi, Fontanesi, Mancini, Messina, Segantini, Signorini, Boldini, Rubino, Milesi, Tito, Michetti e Sorolla y Bastida.

Since 1993 the museum has been based in Nervi, in the eighteenth-century villa Grimaldi Fassio, purchased by the Municipality of Genoa in 1979. Piccolo museo all’interno del parco di Nervi con un’interessante selezione di dipinti e bronzetti. Ambienti puliti, ordinati e silenziosi: un luogo raccolto e molto piacevole da visitare, quasi come si trattasse di una galleria privata, lontano dal caos dei dintorni.

Non è possibile pagare con carta, solo contanti, piuttosto incomprensibile per un’istituzione pubblica o museale.
