Amidst the overpriced, overcrowded attractions found in many Tuscan cities, this stands out as a real gem - inexpensive (only €4) and quiet (we had the place to ourselves on a Thursday afternoon in June) - which is definitely worth seeking out. A palazzo full of stunning baroque decoration and artwork, it may not appear tasteful to many today, but the extravagance is breathtaking to behold, not least the bedchamber which is a dazzling mixture of gilding and gold fabric; it’s hard to imagine how anyone managed to get to sleep in there, but it’s an amazing spectacle. You can happily lose yourself in the place for an hour or more, and it is a real highlight of Lucca.

The palace of the Duke of Lucca. The 3 grand rooms of the wall tapestries are stunningly superb, worth visiting just for them. 6 stars! At 400 years old, much of the colour of the dyes remains, as good as anything else in major musuems, Louvre included. For once, i could even imagine what they looked like when new. And them there is the OTT bed chamber with silk wall coverings, a true "must see".

4€ per adult, 2€ reduced. We enjoyed the rooms and all their different styles, there is more on the upper floors were the museum changes into an art gallery. English information is available in all rooms, sadly a bit generic. Enjoyed it anyway. It’s a shame that there is no beautiful garden at Villa Mansi, but the house is worth a visit.

Well worth visiting. Some amazing art work and the tapestries are gorgeous. Clearly a well curated and well managed museum with a lot to offer . Upper floor was closed but for €4 per person, it was great value for money & time very well spent on a wet & miserable day in Lucca

Found this museum while on a day trip to Lucca. This is a beautiful old building with many furnishings. It is amazing how Italy has been able to preserve these old landmarks. It usually takes about 90 minutes to get through the whole museum which was a wonderful experience.
